The Weekly Smile for 6/29/2020 #weeklysmile – outlined a book for the first time

weeklysmile

I am an author and I have never outlined a book. I have never finished a book either. I enter NaNoWriMo and in less than an hour the July version starts. So with a lot of cursing and yelling I finally finished an outline if you can call it that. It is the first time not writing off the top of my head or seat of my pants LOL! I am a pantser deep down and not sure I can pull off using this outline. I may give up after a short period of time if that works better than following an outline which was like writing the story anyhow. So my smile is my first ever book outline.

Questions:

Must we have evidence to know the truth? I think in my mind it is hard to see the truth without tangible evidence. I need to see something in real life to believe in it. Someone proclaiming they didn’t do something doesn’t make me believe them. I need proof that they didn’t do it or that someone else did.

How much control does a person have over their life? This kind of ties into last week’s questions a little bit. I was brought up to believe in doing what was right and to follow the rules. So I believe you only have as much control over your life as those rules allow. Now I know there are plenty of people who don’t give a hoot about rules and do as they please and in some cases (a lot of times that depends on money or who they know or are related to) they get away with it. I think it depends a lot on who you are, with how much control you have over your life.

What is gravity and how does it work? I wasn’t real good with science. Gravity is what holds us to the earth, but how it works? Who knows? Not me!!!

Can a person be happy if they have never experienced sadness?  How about vice versa? This is a hard one. I suffer from Bipolar Disorder. I can probably count on the fingers of one hand how many times I have been happy as I understand it. I am severely depressed and when I am manic I am crazy nuts, but still depressed. I gave birth 3 times, happy and joyful. My marriage was depressingly horrible so no happy there. I got divorced – mixed happy and sad. Oh I take that back, I need both hands as I have 5 beautiful grandchildren and a great son-in-law. I only know what happy is supposed to feel like, but don’t really understand completely sad and happy.

Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt #163 – Unwelcome

Weekend Writing Prompt #163 – Unwelcome

Chasing the roach across her countertops, Cara was furious at her landlord. She asked him when she moved in if there were any roaches, and he assured her that he kept a clean place.

Cara begged to differ with him as she was spending her days chasing down roaches, killing the ones she caught, and spraying bug killer daily.  They were unwelcome here.

She couldn’t leave food out for even a few minutes. She had to put all her food that was in boxes in hard plastic containers or the refrigerator.

(This is actually based on real life. We lived in a place like this only it was much worse. Now my current place has a few roaches thanks to the neighbor over me. They are trying to rid her apartment of them and they are looking for places to escape and I and my side neighbors are getting them. I know one roach means many roaches and if I wait for the apartment buildings exterminator to spray every other week I am going to be infested too. I have been spraying every area with Raid when I find one. So far I have kept them under control to a point. If I can’t kill it and it gets away I saturate the area in Raid despite the maintenance woman telling me not to spray on my own. Roaches are not easy to control if left untreated for too long. And they only spray the kitchen and bathroom and thanks to the woman upstairs they are coming down my walls from all over the place. I lived like that once and don’t want a repeat. Roaches are prevalent in lots of apartments here and I don’t leave any food out and any trash that touched food goes in a bag in my refrigerator until I can take it to the trash chute. There is no food here for them. Up above she has cats so cat food is out there. The only difference so far is I do have food in boxes on my shelves and if it gets to the point that I have to refrigerate everything again I am going to be super pissed off.

I live in public housing and this is the kind of shit you have to deal with. I lived here 2 years and our half of the floor was fine. Now due to another floor above me, we are having to deal with them.)

Linda’s prompt for the week: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “coffee, tea, or me.” Find a flirty phrase of your own or use “coffee, tea, or me” in your post. Have fun!

“I wonder if you know how special you are; I wonder if you know how precious you are; I wonder if you know how lucky I am to have you in my life; I love you so much.” – Hassan Ali

Now I wouldn’t mind hearing that from the guy I loved. Shame I don’t have one right now. Of course, he would be tall, dark and handsome with gorgeous blue eyes and black hair. My ex-husband had blond hair and I never heard anything like that come out of his mouth. BUT a girl can dream!

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Hair cut, finally!

Coffee, Pen, Notebook, Caffeine, Cup

Hey everyone, this is Teresa Smeigh from www.tessacandoit.com and I am posting on my new blog www.tessadeanauthor.com. I am writing with a pen name now.

Thanks to Eclectic Alli for hosting this prompt.

If we were having coffee, for one thing I wouldn’t have coffee as I don’t drink it and it is way too hot anyhow. I am mainly drinking water only or occasionally I will make a pitcher of ice tea. You can choose your poison.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I had my hair cut tonight. The salon just reopened and it was weird because they only have a few staff and customers at once and no more walk-ins. Everyone must have an appointment. I was shocked that on their first day open I not only got an appointment I got my usual stylist. Lucky me! Of course, being the last appointment of the day at 8:30 PM is probably why she was still available. I hate driving at night, but I needed a hair cut and I could still have my usual stylist so I will drive at night if need be. I made sure that they were enforcing the wearing of masks both stylists and customers because that is one thing a lot of states that reopened sooner were not enforcing and now those states are having huge surges of the virus. New Jersey got hit hard in the beginning, but we are dropping now and opening slowly and still enforcing the wearing of masks. Maybe we won’t have a massive resurgence. I was concerned about going there tonight as I don’t go out unless I have to food shop (once a month) or get a prescription.

My dad appears to be doing well recovering from Covid-19. He was asymtomatic which helped.

I am still fighting with my outline for my new book for NaNoWriMo. I hate outlining and doubt I will try this again. Such a waste of time and it is making me anxious and annoyed.

Be safe everyone,

Although I usually don’t find these kinds of things to stimulate my thought processes, what I got from this was if I was floating through space. Planets, stars, mist etc. It was soothing.

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a beach in the half-light, bounded by dark dunes and holding a silvery pool of water that mirrors the sky.

Silvery Pool

By Tessa Dean June 2020

The silvery pool glittered here and there where the sun poked through the clouds. The sand surrounding the pool held the heat from the day, and Suzanne dug her bare toes deep into the sand while sitting on a towel and watching her niece play in the water surrounded by the dunes.

The water wasn’t deep as far as she knew, so she didn’t worry about four-year-old Veronica playing in the water. She decided to work on her homework as she sat on the edge of the water while Veronica splashed around.

She looked up from her book and couldn’t find Veronica. Where had the child gone? Becoming frantic, she walked into the water and looked for any sign of the missing child. “Ronnie, where are you?”

“What are you looking for, Aunt Suzi?” Veronica was standing behind her on one of the dunes. Suzanne let her breath out and tried to calm down before speaking to Ronnie.

“Ronnie, don’t ever do that again. You tell me if you are going to get out of the water and go behind me.”

“Aunt Suzi, I did tell you, and you just mumbled something. I thought you heard me.”

Suzanne grabbed her towel, book, and Ronnie’s hand. “Let’s go,” she said.
