Welcome to The Three Things Challenge.
Below are three things that may, or may not, be related. Simply read the prompt and see where your creativity takes you.
You can use one, two or all three words in your post, there are no restrictions regarding length, style, or genre apart from keeping it family friendly.
You can use 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC as a tag and my logo if you wish.
Invite us along by creating a pingback to this post, then leave your link in the comments so that other people can read your writings and I’ll see it to respond to you directly. You might like to check out some of the other contributions while you’re there.
I schedule the challenge to go out around 6.30 am UK time, but pingbacks have to be approved manually so might not show immediately. This could be because I’m late accessing my blog or due to time differences, but I will get there, I promise!
I look forward to reading your responses, and as always thank you all for your continued support.
Your three words are:
By Tessa Dean January 2021
Two-year-old Anthony sat down hard on his diapered butt, the padding in the diaper softening his landing. He started to cry a little bit and Ginny reached over and picked him up and put him in her lap to comfort him. She rubbed his hair and kissed his furrowed brow. She used a napkin to soak up his tears and he snuggled closer to her and quieted down.
Mrs. Banks brought the teapot over to the table and asked Ginny if she would like a refill. Ginny agreed even though her arms were filled with Anthony. She asked Thomas to add two spoons of sugar to her tea and stir it for her. He readily agreed.
Next Mrs. Bank brought over the coffee pot and asked her husband if he wanted another cup and after filling it asked Thomas if he would like a cup of coffee or another can of cola. He turned down the coffee and opted for another can of cola. Coffee wasn’t his favorite drink.
Mrs. Banks asked what the other boys were doing and Thomas said they were out tumbling on the mat and wrestling. The huge mat was much easier on the boys knees and elbows so they weren’t always scuffing them up.
Thomas looked at Ginny and she smiled at him. He cleared his throat and said, “Mom and Dad, Ginny and I would like to talk to you. We have both been thinking. We are both almost 20 years old and have been talking about our future. Our future together. We know we are still young and have schooling to finish, but we would like to get engaged with the understanding that we wouldn’t get married until we have both finished school and Ginny here wants to be a nurse so she will be in school for 4 years to get her BSN degree. I am going to technical school to become a mechanic and then work for dad. So I will be working and saving up the few years she will be in school longer than I will be. I am also hoping that you will be okay with me living at home until we get married. I will pay you rent, of course, and still help out with all the kids, but that way I can save for when we get married and look for a house or apartment of our own. Ginny still has to talk to her mother, but she doesn’t think she will object since we won’t get married for almost 5 years from now. Ginny hopes her mother won’t object to her living at home during that time and hopefully she won’t have to pay rent so she doesn’t have to work a full time job as well as going to school. She has a scholarship to pay for her schooling so that part is taken care of. I will have a student loan to pay for my technical school. We have tried to figure all the details out and think we have a pretty good grasp on them. Before I put the ring on her finger we are hoping for your blessing.”
His parents looked at each other and smiled. They had a feeling this was coming and couldn’t be happier. They loved Ginny and all their children did too.
