Welcome to The Three Things Challenge.
Below are three things that may, or may not, be related. Simply read the prompt and see where your creativity takes you.
You can use one, two or all three words in your post, there are no restrictions regarding length, style, or genre apart from keeping it family friendly.
You can use 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC as a tag and my logo if you wish.
Invite us along by creating a pingback to this post, then leave your link in the comments so that other people can read your writings and I’ll see it to respond to you directly. You might like to check out some of the other contributions while you’re there.
I schedule the challenge to go out around 6.30 am UK time, but pingbacks have to be approved manually so might not show immediately. This could be because I’m late accessing my blog or due to time differences, but I will get there, I promise!
I look forward to reading your responses, and as always thank you all for your continued support.
Your three words are:

Thomas finished work and headed home. Tonight was his night to watch the kids while Mom worked at the restaurant and Dad had his one night a week going out with the guys. Rory had done it last week and he had a pretty good idea he had plans for this Friday night, but Thomas only got to see Ginny Friday nights when he didn’t have to watch the kids and then Saturday and Sunday.
Ginny was still in the hospital recuperating from her burst appendix and she was lonely. Thomas missed seeing her as well, but he had to continue working, going to school the four nights a week he was scheduled, and keep getting her assignments from her college classes that she could do at home. She was still doing book learning and hadn’t started working in the actual hospital yet so he could bring her the current assignments. He brought her a laptop to work on so she wouldn’t fall too far behind. It was a real challenge keeping up with everything including doing his turn at babysitting the kids.
Thomas got up his courage and headed out side to where Rory was standing in the road and examining his front flat tire. “Hey man, do you have a spare,” Rory asked Thomas. “I never got mine fixed after the last flat tire I had.”
“I don’t know if it has air in it or not. I wanted to ask you something. Is there some way you can take over watching the kids tonight? I really want to see Ginny tonight and I know it is my night to watch them, but I can’t see her all week.”
“Oh man I would, but I have concert tickets tonight with my friends and I was supposed to drive, but my tire is flat.”
“I wonder what Joshua is up to tonight. I wonder if he could do it?”
“I don’t know man, you know Mom and Dad don’t like him babysitting too much since he is still under 16 years old and I think he has done it already this month so we could both have the same Friday night off.”
“I know, but I really miss Ginny and she is pretty lonely there at the hospital. Let me check my spare tire.” Thomas walked over to his vehicle and looked at his spare. “I’m sorry, but it is flat too. It isn’t holding air very well it would seem. Well since it is my turn to watch the kids you can take my vehicle. I’m not going to need it.”
“Hey man, cool. Thanks a lot. Sorry, I would do it if I didn’t already pay for these tickets.”
“It’s alright. I can Skype with Ginny instead. It is the next best thing to being there provided the kids behave although the twins are always a handful. Maybe I can get them to sleep early enough that I can still talk to Ginny for a while. She should be coming home soon and things will be easier once she is fully healthy again.”
