“Come on Thomas,” Ginny begs and bats her eyelashes at him. “I dare you!”

“You crazy girl, do you want me to spoil my good looks. And why blue?”

“Look it will wash out fairly quickly. It’s not permanent.”

Thomas looked at the box of blue color in his hand and then tossed it into the trash. “I’m sorry, but blue is not my color. What a vision that would be.”

Ginny failed to get him to try the color blue, but she was actually overjoyed that he refused to do it. Thomas was still clad in his pajamas since Ginny showed up so early he had been eating breakfast, a delicious repast that his mother had prepared for him. He shared it with Ginny. Ginny leveled her eyes at him and gazed soulfully into his eyes. “We have to work on the list for the wedding. I have looked up a lot of things we need to think about. And I know I hate gold, but what do you think about gold for the girl’s dresses and the guys in black tuxes?”

Thomas was starting to feel overwhelmed with the wedding plans. He felt like putting his hands over his ears and sticking his tongue out at her. There was a loud crash in the area of the street. Not wanting to miss anything they dashed to the door, mindful that Thomas was still in his pajamas.

The school bus was late and had run into the trashcans and a few of the neighbor’s cars. One of the neighbor’s jumped into the bus and heroically checked out the driver. He had his hand over his heart and was pale and gasping for air. Another neighbor arrived who was a doctor and shooed the kids out of the way so he could check him out in private.

9-1-1 was called and the kids were pushed to the back of the bus by the first adult on the scene. The doctor gave him some aspirin to chew to try and stop what appeared to be a heart attack. He asked the man if he took nitroglycerin and when he responded yes, they found his bottle of nitroglycerin and gave him a dose. Now all they could do was wait for the ambulance to get there.

They made sure none of the kids were hurt and called the school for a replacement driver. Ginny pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming all of this. She had class in a little while and Thomas had to get ready for work. She wondered if he would mind if she hitched a ride with him. Although the bus didn’t hit her car she was kind of blocked in right now.

The Birthday Party Part 33 (Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5Part 6Part 7Part 8Part 9Part 10Part 11Part 12Part 13Part 14Part 15Part 16Part 17Part 18Part 19Part 20Part 21Part 22Part 23Part 24Part 25Part 26Part 27Part 28Part 29Part 30Part 31, Part 32)

Thomas was in an argumentative mood. He refused to see reason when she tried to explain why they couldn’t hold a reception in the backyard. Ginny quietly said, hoping to keep from arguing, “Parking on the street would probably need a permit from the township. There isn’t enough room for all the guests to park out there and they would have long walks from surrounding neighborhoods who would probably complain at the influx of cars into their quiet neighborhoods. Plus she would rather their reception to be private since they weren’t inviting all the neighbors.

Thomas failed at first to accept her reasons for not having the reception in the backyard. He had thought it was a great idea because they always had such wonderful parties out there, but he was talking about small family affairs. Now they were talking up to maybe 100 cars or so full of people. Plus the pricing of everything they would need and the fact that they would have to run the whole affair was making the decision for a real wedding venue more inviting. The cons outweighed the pros.

Ginny made a list of what they would need to have a reception in the backyard. Once she thought she had everything they would need, she began calling around for pricing. As she added things up she was finding it almost as expensive to use the backyard as it was to use a indoor wedding venue. One of the cheaper situations would be one of those places that lets you use their hall for the wedding and the reception combined and the guests don’t have to drive to somewhere else. Also using the backyard proved almost impossible due to parking restrictions. There wouldn’t be enough parking on the street and they didn’t have that big of a backyard so it looked like that would not be a workable idea along with the dual wedding/reception packages since they were getting married in the Catholic Church.

Ginny had to miss seeing Thomas last night since he had to babysit for his Mom and Dad so they could go out together and she had schoolwork that she absolutely had to do.

Ginny looked down at the box that contained albums of wedding invitations to look through to see if there was one they liked. They still needed to make a choice although they still hadn’t set a wedding date.

Ginny saw the box that had contained her engagement ring. She had chosen silver since she really didn’t care for gold and as they found out, silver was cheaper than gold. Thomas chose the ring, but he let her choose the metal she wanted. She loved the ring he had picked out for her.

She decided to go through the wedding dresses again. The one she really wanted was about $5,000 and that was simply not going to happen. She could get an absolutely beautiful gown on sale at the local wedding dress shop. Maybe even one she liked better than this one for less than $1,000.

The doorbell rang. Ginny brushed her hair and ran down to get Thomas to come in. They had to talk.
