Beach Party Part 9 (Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5Part 6Part 7, Part 8)

“Get backon that chair,” Mrs. Jones admonished Cassie. “I will bring you some lunch.”

“Mother I am capable of getting my own lunch. My foot is almost healed.”

Mrs. Jones locked eyes with her eldest daughter and told her, “Quit being ridiculous and let yourself be waited on for the short recovery period. You will be back on your feet in no time. Don’t rush it!”

Cassie turned around and headed back across the room to the couch. With an undignified oath she plopped herself back onto the couch. She went back to playing a game on her phone.

There was a bump in the hall and then a knock on their door. Kimberly opened it up to find Peter grinning at her. “Oh, it’s you. Come on in I guess.”

Peter slid a little to close to Kimberly coming in and she backed away and let the door knob go. Peter noticed she seemed to cringe and cower away from him. “Hey Kim, are you afraid of me?” Peter asked her.

“Peter, Cassie told us about what you did to her so yes I am frightened of you.”

“Oh Cassie did you have to share that little part of it? I wasn’t really going to hit you.”

“Look Peter,” Cassie started, “You had a look of rage on your face and your balled fist pulled back. What was I supposed to think. Just what reaction did you think you were going to get?”

“Can we talk about something else? How is the ankle heeling?

“I am not an expert, but I would say it is doing a lot better, but Mom won’t let me walk on it still. I am confined to this couch and bed.”

“Oh cool, glad to hear it. Is that a monster movie? I thought you didn’t like them.”

“Peter it is a kids’ show for the little ones. It’s cute. Now who’s the bung hole?”

“Cassandra! Do not use that language in front of your brothers and sisters please,” Mrs. Jones said.

“Oh, Mom, I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking. Peter just makes me so mad.”

Peter tapped her hip and said “Can I sit next to you? I have missed you.”

“No! Don’t touch me. I am still mad at you.”

“Oh come on Cassie. Are you trying to get rid of me?”

“Maybe, Peter. Did you find a job yet?

“Damn it girl, can’t you find a different subject?”

“No Peter, and I think you had better leave. You may come back when you are ready to tell me that you have a job and not before. Goodbye!”

Peter stared at her in confusion. She was serious. He could tell by the way she glared at him. He didn’t want to work. And he didn’t like some girl telling him he had to. His mom was ok with it.

“I mean it Peter. No job, no relationship, now go!”
