You can use 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC as a tag and my logo if you wish.

I schedule the challenge to go out around 6.30 am UK time, but pingbacks have to be approved manually so might not show immediately. This could be because I’m late accessing my blog or due to time differences, but I will get there, I promise!
I look forward to reading your responses, and as always thank you all for your continued support.

Beach Party Part 14 (Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5Part 6Part 7Part 8Part 9Part 10Part 11Part 12, Part 13)

By Tessa Dean March 2021

Cassie watched the waves pounding on the beach at Cove Bay. Her eyes were puffy from crying. She pulled a tissue out of her jeans pocket and wiped her eyes. In her hands was the friendship ring that Peter had given her.

She is sad that it has come to this, but it is obvious to her that she has grown up while Peter is stagnant, held in place with no desire to become a man.

Cassie rubs the ring. Should she toss it into the ocean? Or give it back to him? She hasn’t told him yet about Wayne.

***100 words for Friday Fictioneers Prompt Above***

Peter runs up to where Cassie is waiting for him on the beach. She decided the adult thing was to tell him in person.

There is no sign of penance on Peter’s face. He obviously has no idea what is in store for him and just expects that she has forgiven him and that all is well.

“Hey, what’s up, why are you crying Cassie?”

Cassie is sitting slumped on the steps that lead down to the beach. She wants the pain to end. She knows she is going to end up hurting Peter and that in turn hurts her. She continues looking at the ocean waves, seeking solace. When this is done, she knows she will have hurt another human being and that is something she hates to do.

Peter is acting silly, like the kid, he still is. Confusion starts to set in on his face and he wonders what is going on. “Cassie?”

“Oh God, Peter, I didn’t want to do this. I hoped you would understand how serious I was about your actions and my demands for you to get a job and take me out on real dates would sink in, but obviously you can’t give that to me. I need a man, Peter. I am looking for someone who is responsible and doesn’t act like a child. I want a man who will love me, get a job, and help move our relationship along so we can be together. I thought we would be husband and wife and well obviously I was very wrong about that.” The tears start to flow again. The tissue is fraying and she struggles to pull a fresh one out of her pocket.

“What are you saying Cassie? Didn’t you call me out here to tell me we were going to see each other again? I have been waiting all summer for you to come to your senses.” He clenches his hands, cracking the knuckles. He starts to shove her, pushing her back against the steps she had been sitting on. He stares at her, not seeing her anymore and his clenched fist comes up as if to strike her.

“Peter, no, stop it!” Cassie starts to shake. She turns and prepares to run down the beach to the sand dune she knows her friends are waiting behind, just in case this happened. Peter is no longer able to control his rage. He is out of control. She can see the emptiness in his eyes. “Peter! NO!”

By now her friends have come out from behind the dune. They can hear the fear in Cassie’s tone of voice as she shouts at Peter to stop.

Slowly Peter awakens as if from a trance. He realizes that he has his clenched fist raised to Cassie’s face. Again! “What’s going on?” He is confused and shaken. He sees the fear in Cassie’s face and realizes that their friends are now surrounding her. Ronnie and Marianne are hugging her to them as tears pour down Cassie’s face.

“What the hell is the matter with you man?” Charlie and Winston are holding him back.

Peter looks around at all of them dazedly. “Peter, I called you down here so I could tell you that we are done, over, no more relationship. I will not have a relationship with someone who can’t be my equal and has no desire to be and to top it off, threatens to punch me in the face when I do something he doesn’t like. Plus my two best friends told me that you have been hitting on them. Just because we were taking a break doesn’t mean you can date my friends. That is not how it works. I am officially through with you. You can have your stupid ring back.” Cassie tossed the ring at him and turned her back on him knowing her friends would protect her.

“Cassie, you can’t do this to me. We are supposed to be together. Everyone knows that.”

“We are, and I repeat, are, through, done, over and no longer boyfriend and girlfriend. Do you get it yet?” He strains to pull away from Winston and Charlie, but they hold tight.

“No man, leave her alone. You are no longer welcome in our group. And you need to seek help for your anger management. It is way out of control. You’re going to hurt someone.” The five of them walk away, the girls with their arms around Cassie and their other arm around their boyfriends. Cassie didn’t look back.
