Welcome to The Three Things Challenge.
Below are three things that may, or may not, be related. Simply read the prompt and see where your creativity takes you.
You can use one, two or all three words in your post, there are no restrictions regarding length, style, or genre apart from keeping it family friendly.
You can use 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC as a tag and my logo if you wish.
Invite us along by creating a pingback to this post, then leave your link in the comments so that other people can read your writings and I’ll see it to respond to you directly. You might like to check out some of the other contributions while you’re there.
I schedule the challenge to go out around 6.30 am UK time, but pingbacks have to be approved manually so might not show immediately. This could be because I’m late accessing my blog or due to time differences, but I will get there, I promise!
I look forward to reading your responses, and as always thank you all for your continued support.

By Tessa Dean March 2021
Cassie was still shaking from her encounter with Peter. She thought doing the adult thing and telling him about the breakup in person was the right thing to do, but after that encounter she wasn’t sure anymore. Thankfully she had the hindsight of asking her friends to be there, although they were hidden. Peter had no idea he was being watched. She didn’t trust him not to hurt her anymore. Safely escorted by her friends, she headed home to talk to her mom. She really thought it was a miracle that he hadn’t hurt her. This was not the Peter she grew up with. She knew he had a temper, but he mainly kept it in check.
After saying good bye to her friends at her door, she headed inside and to her bedroom that she shared with Kimberley. Kimberley was out on a date and so she had the room to herself to reflect deeply on what had just happened. Peter was so enraged, he was definitely about to punch her. He seemed to go into a trance and not know what he was doing. Seeing it so up close was scary. How many other people had he done this too. She knew his temper was getting worse.
Her mother wasn’t home from work yet so she had to wait for her before they could talk. Her mother had no idea what was going on. She thought she was not dating Peter simply because he wouldn’t get a job. She would be very angry when she found out he had almost hit her again.
She went to the kitchen and got a full glass of soda and told Lauren, the babysitter she had hired for her conversation with Peter, that she could go. She wasn’t going out again. She paid her and took the full glass of soda back to her bedroom.
She still had to call Wayne as well. She definitely wanted to get to know him and was excited that he had planned a real date. She would have money with her just in case something came up and she had to pay her share of the date, but she felt that he was the kind of man who would take her on a date and actually pay for it. He was not a teenager anymore. She wondered just how old he actually was. They had a lot of talking to do.
She was only 19 and so a bar was out of the question. He said where they went would be her choice. She didn’t mind eating at the restaurant she worked at. It would be kind of fun to have her friends wait on her for a change.
Her phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID she could see it was Ronnie. Ronnie and the others would be checking up on her to make sure she was ok and that Peter didn’t come to her house. She answered the phone and stretched out on her bed. They talked for a little while and then she heard the front door. She told Ronnie she had to go and to let the others know she was fine and had to talk to her mother now. She hung up and braced herself for the ordeal to come.
