**********Cassie’s POV**********
Unable to get over the feeling that she was being naïve in thinking that Wayne really wanted to date her, Cassie struggled with sending him the text message that she was on the way. Glancing out the window at the park across the street she wished she could escape to her favorite running trail. Running always soothed her, however today she would get drenched by the rain so even if she had the time, she didn’t run in the rain usually. Plus she was all dressed up for her date. There would be no running today.
She stood up before she started to snooze again. She had to make a decision and now. If she went on the date she would have to put on one hell of a performance as she wasn’t really sure she wanted to see him now. How could her feelings have changed so much? She knew why and that was because she half accepted that he was behind the drugged candy and couldn’t shake that feeling.
What to do? What to do? She kept turning it over in her mind. She typed out the text that she was leaving, but didn’t push send right away. What little sun had come out had disappeared behind the woods already. It was time to get a move on. Once she pushed send she would quickly text her friends to be ready. Oh why couldn’t she just push the send button already?
**********Wayne’s POV**********
Wayne was already in the area before the restaurant entrance. He was sipping a beer and thinking ahead to the fun he had in mind. His thoughts were erratic and he was back in the groove again. Cassie would be in proximity soon. He went back over his steps and he checked off comforter stowed in the van with his friends. He looked at the garden beside the restaurant’s entrance and most of the slushy stuff had disappeared.
A party bus pulled up and the driver opened the door manually from the outside and a bunch of teenagers were leaping out row by row. He was glad he and Cassie wouldn’t be here tonight. He wondered if it was coincidental that so many teenagers were here tonight. Did Cassie have a bunch of her friends here for support? He started looking for the four of her friends he was familiar with.
