SHARE YOUR WORLD 5-31-2021 Memorial Day

SHARE YOUR WORLD 5-31-2021 Memorial Day

Welcome to Share Your World and Melanie’s Rules!

QUESTIONS

What activity instantly calms you? It used to be reading, but I can’t seem to get into reading much lately. It also used to be writing, but even that is not calming now. Sometimes binging cooking shows of some sort even though I hate cooking. I am seriously anxious right now and almost nothing is calming.

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve done lately? I don’t do things spontaneously. Perhaps cutting down on my hours of live streaming on YouTube could be one thing. I never thought I would make it official (made a video announcing my schedule change) and now I just have to remember not to schedule all those streams. I have been doing it automatically it seems.

If people receive a purple heart for bravery, what would other color hearts represent?  (Example yellow heart = cowardice) Well red makes me think of anger/rage. Green is money/wealth. Blue is medical related. Black is death.

What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done or witnessed someone else do? I had to think about this a bit. I think it would be the time the club I worked at caught on fire and I had to break the panic that was engulfing me and make a run for it with my coworkers. I came to a dead halt and someone had to drag me along making it dangerous for us both. He wouldn’t leave me and so I had to get up the courage and move. He was brave because he wouldn’t let me stay behind to die in the fire. I was simply frozen in terror. (Fire was an extreme phobia when I was a child. I am still terrified, but not as bad as I was as a child)

The Weekly Smile for the 31st of May, 2021 #weeklysmile

The Weekly Smile for the 31st of May, 2021 #weeklysmile

My smile:

It is getting harder and harder to find something to smile about. My depression is deepening and my health is getting worse. I spend more time in the hospital than out of it anymore.

I guess my smile will have to be that I am going to make some changes in my life. Exactly what I am not sure, but I am starting with taking back some of my free time from YouTube and cutting down my hours of live streaming on there. I get very little sleep and do nothing else it seems. Even my writing is slowing down. I prefer short stories to novel writing and think at this time, I am going to put all those grand plans at a huge series to rest, possibly permanently. Book one I am still trying to finish, but not even sure that will get done at this point. It can stand alone so it isn’t as if I have to write a series. I didn’t start it with that in mind.

I posted a video about the decrease in my live stream schedule and that is a load off of my chest. Happy Memorial Day to those of you in the US.

Grab yourself a beverage and pull up a chair. If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I ended up back in the hospital again. This time for pulmonary embolisms. Yes that is plural. Some of which were quite large and affected my breathing so I have a partial answer now on that. I am now on blood thinners for the rest of my life.

I am slowly working on my novel again. Not with a lot of enthusiasm, but working on it. I haven’t decided what I want to do with it. This constant in and out of the hospital routine is making writing very difficult and the constant interruptions are hard to work around.

I still have the walking boot on my foot and when the blood clots caused swelling in my legs it became very uncomfortable. I had it off while confined to a hospital bed and it was a relief. Monday June 7th is my doctor appointment to see if it healed and if I can remove it. I will be so glad to get it off. I am so exhausted and while in the hospital I got no sleep so trying to see if I can get caught up. I have a livestream tonight at 6 PM on YouTube and so need to try and nap some since I only got 2 hours this morning after being up almost the entire night. My sleep schedule is so weird.

Being in the hospital so much has also caused a major backlog in filing mail. I have gone through most of it, but there is so much to file.

Next weekend is a big weekend for me. It is the World Wide Writeathon and I am cohosting on three different time slots (writing sprints) on YouTube. I like doing this writing weekend and live streaming on YouTube 5 evenings a week. The WWW is held 3 times a year the month before a NANOWRIMO month.

Have a great week everyone.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 29, 2021

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “collect.” Use the word “collect” any way you’d like. Have fun!

***************

I used to collect books, especially hard back books, but my kids told me they weren’t moving my books ever again so I had to part ways with them. I don’t have the room for them now and with moving to an assisted living facility there would be even less room.

I started to collect arts and crafts supplies and they have gotten out of control as well. I will have to part with them when I move. Most of them anyhow.

My smile:

Glad to be out of the hospital once again. I was tired of all the poking and prodding although this last bout means I will be on blood thinners the rest of my life and right now this boot is still too tight. I have a week and a half to get through till hopefully I get it off.

#WeekendCoffeeShare : Writing and Moods

Natalie’s Guidelines and newest post is here.

Coffee, Pen, Notebook, Caffeine, Cup

Grab yourself a beverage and pull up a chair. If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I found getting around on this walking boot getting easier and I am getting better at getting dressed with it on. I have to use a dressing stick, but it has gotten easier. I still don’t have an aide so it is up to me to get dressed by myself. I was used to having an aide during the week and only having to get dressed by myself on the weekends. Luckily I found an easier way to do it so it doesn’t take more than a few extra minutes. I was used to struggling by myself on the weekends, but practice does make perfect as they say.

Now for my writing. I am used to writing short stories, flash fiction or poetry. Every year I would start NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month), but until recently I never finished anything or had an interest to finish it and some years I never really got started. So I found one that I was actually interested in finishing. I worked on it and sent it to beta readers for critique and then started the rewrite and editing. I ended up doing some research on murder/mysteries and then decided to change it and now have to do another rewrite. After almost 2 months of not writing, not finishing NANOWRIMO camp, I have found my interest dwindling. Now some of that can probably be blamed on my Bipolar Disorder, but I have found that I probably bit off more than I can chew and when I went from one book to a series I became unfocused and started several books at once. Now I don’t even feel like finishing book one. So currently I am working on prompt writing for my blog instead. That is where I am most comfortable.

Now yesterday my daughter came over and we started going through my things as I am on the list for an assisted living facility and I won’t be able to take all of this stuff and I do have way more than an average person needs. She hauled several bags of trash and recycles out. Then we filled 3 kitchen sized bags of clothing for donations and a couple of bags with clothes not suitable for donation, plus 2 small boxes of books. It hardly looks like I made a dent in here except for where my clothes were hanging. We did cut them way back, but I still have a lot of clothes and may still have to downsize them. We ran out of time when her husband’s truck broke down and she had to go get him, but I was getting tired and sore anyhow so it was good that we ended there. I don’t know how long it will take to go through all of this and of course I have no idea when they will find me a place to go either. If we find something fast we will have to pick up the pace. I am not looking forward to moving again and into a facility, but for my health’s sake I don’t have a lot of choice.

Have a great week everyone.

Lightning!

Wannabe Princess

By Tessa Dean May 2021

Kelly Clark stared at the painting in the local museum. It was what they considered abstract. She wasn’t sure she liked it, but as she continued to look at it, she touched the cockeyed crown on her head and her bubbly laughter could be heard. The painting is just like me, abstract. She didn’t fix her crown.

Statue of Liberty

by Tessa Dean May 2021

Our group, including our three children, boarded the ferry, eager to arrive at the Statue of Liberty. Once we landed, we walked around the bottom, and then we got in the long line of people waiting to climb up inside. We finally got to the top of the line and were next to go in when the person allowing the parties to enter announced that no more people were allowed to enter as there wouldn’t be enough time to get to the top and back down before closing. So close, so disappointed. We wished we hadn’t walked around the outside.
