Grab yourself a beverage and pull up a chair. If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I found getting around on this walking boot getting easier and I am getting better at getting dressed with it on. I have to use a dressing stick, but it has gotten easier. I still don’t have an aide so it is up to me to get dressed by myself. I was used to having an aide during the week and only having to get dressed by myself on the weekends. Luckily I found an easier way to do it so it doesn’t take more than a few extra minutes. I was used to struggling by myself on the weekends, but practice does make perfect as they say.

Now for my writing. I am used to writing short stories, flash fiction or poetry. Every year I would start NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month), but until recently I never finished anything or had an interest to finish it and some years I never really got started. So I found one that I was actually interested in finishing. I worked on it and sent it to beta readers for critique and then started the rewrite and editing. I ended up doing some research on murder/mysteries and then decided to change it and now have to do another rewrite. After almost 2 months of not writing, not finishing NANOWRIMO camp, I have found my interest dwindling. Now some of that can probably be blamed on my Bipolar Disorder, but I have found that I probably bit off more than I can chew and when I went from one book to a series I became unfocused and started several books at once. Now I don’t even feel like finishing book one. So currently I am working on prompt writing for my blog instead. That is where I am most comfortable.

Now yesterday my daughter came over and we started going through my things as I am on the list for an assisted living facility and I won’t be able to take all of this stuff and I do have way more than an average person needs. She hauled several bags of trash and recycles out. Then we filled 3 kitchen sized bags of clothing for donations and a couple of bags with clothes not suitable for donation, plus 2 small boxes of books. It hardly looks like I made a dent in here except for where my clothes were hanging. We did cut them way back, but I still have a lot of clothes and may still have to downsize them. We ran out of time when her husband’s truck broke down and she had to go get him, but I was getting tired and sore anyhow so it was good that we ended there. I don’t know how long it will take to go through all of this and of course I have no idea when they will find me a place to go either. If we find something fast we will have to pick up the pace. I am not looking forward to moving again and into a facility, but for my health’s sake I don’t have a lot of choice.

Have a great week everyone.

    1. I am so ready to get rid of the walking boot. Have at least 8 days left in it. I don’t know what the doctor will find when he x-rays it again. I hope to get it off.

  1. Sounds like you have been busy!
I write short stories too and have used NANOWRIMO to just write more of them! I have written a collection of them with the same character for at least 2 years. That seems to work for me. I do like the community of NANO. I only seem to be able to follow that schedule for one project in Nov though. Have you ever done any of the Camp NANO’s?
Ugh, moving. I am glad you are able to reframe it but it does take a lot of energy to move. I am glad you have some people to help you though.

    1. Thanks Tammy! Yes I also write in the NANO camps. I missed this one in April though due to my hospitalization. I hate moving and thankfully my daughter is helping me weed out my things and hopefully before crunch time. I have no idea when they will find a facility.

    1. It is tricky to walk in and it throws you off balance and since I already have balance issues, this isn’t helping. Good luck with your garage sale.
