The Ring Part 6 (Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4, Part 5)

By Tessa Dean June 2021

Eileen and Kyle were deliberating on where they should go to print out the report. “Wait, a minute, Kyle, I just thought of someone who might be able to help us. One of my coworkers has a husband who is a computer guy and he owns a computer business. I am sure she would be willing to help us as they went through their own stalking problem. They are also older and therefore not connected to the university. I know where they live although I know it is not polite to drop in unannounced, she is off work tonight so now would be a good time to go.”

Kyle figured she knew what she was doing and followed along. They hopped in Kyle’s car and headed off campus towards her coworker’s house at 2232 Martinsburg, Street in Angel’s Cove. Pulling up front of the house, Eileen started to have second thoughts. Would they help her or try to talk her out of it? She looked at Kyle and bit her lip.

Just then Sarah Callan came out of her house with a baby on each hip. They were about two years old and twins. One girl and one boy. She remembered when Sarah quit work because she was pregnant. She had since come back. She needed a break from constant motherhood she had told everyone. She wanted to talk to adults for a change. So she worked a few short shifts each week. A couple at night and her husband Scott watches the twins and a couple of mornings where her mother watches the twins.

Sarah walked up to the car. “Hey what are you two up to?” The twins were adorable. They were all dressed up.

Eileen was uneasy. Had they come at a bad time? “I hope we aren’t interrupting, but I wanted to aske a favor of your husband. Is he here or should I go over to the store?

Sarah said, “The twins are dressed up for their 2 year old pictures. I hope the photographer gets here soon as they are getting fussy now. They want to get down and play.” Ashleigh Rose was preening just like a little girl should, but Jonathan Thomas was shy and cowering behind his mother.

“When would be a good time for us to talk to him? It is rather important. I have to print out a background report on one of the university’s professors. He is stalking me and I wanted to confront him, but when I looked up his background I was shocked. I didn’t want to print it at school and I don’t have a printer. I was hoping your husband could help us.”

“Oh honey, I am so sorry. Look, here’s the photographer. Can you come back around 8 PM and we will talk then and print out your report?”

“Oh, thank you Mrs. Callan.”

“Please call me Sarah and my husband Scott. I will see you then.” She greeted the photographer and led him into the house.

The Ring Part 5 (Part 1Part 2Part 3, Part 4)

By Tessa Dean June 2021

As the background report on Professor Nathaniel Greenstone started to load on her laptop, Eileen showed the screen to Kyle. They looked at each other in amazement. They knew he was up to something, but she had no idea it was this bad. He simply wasn’t the man he portrayed at the university and they had to guess that the university didn’t run background checks or there was no way they would have hired this man.

Eileen was becoming more worried as she read each new item that popped up on her screen. “Come on Kyle, we have to get this printed out. I was just going to take a few notes, but this is something I need to print out as the university should be aware of what kind of man they hired to teach their students and the possible danger to the female population as well. As one of the females he has fixated on, I am becoming more alarmed with each new thing I read about his background. We need to get out of here and to the library to use their printer.”

They paid their bill for their sodas and headed out of the coffee shop and to the library. Workers were pruning the hedges at the entrance and they walked around them and into the building. To their dismay Professor Greenstone was in the library. She didn’t dare print out the report there as he might see it and get wind of their knowledge.

Eileen wondered if they could possibly slip into the computer lab and print it there, but maybe they shouldn’t take the chance and just print it off campus completely. This posed another problem. It was either the public library or one of the few people they knew who lived off campus, but Eileen was becoming paranoid and afraid one of their friends wouldn’t be sympathetic to her problem and to the possibility that they were planning to expose a professor and word might leak out before she was ready. There had to be other people he was preying on and she wanted to try and get their help. They needed to stop this man and soon.

Mid Summer’s Rain

By Tessa Dean June 2021

smoldering hot day

***************

I stumbled through a busy June. Here we are, three weeks since the last #Haikai challenge. July is nearly upon us–the last traditional summer month. The solstice came and went, along with the Strawberry Supermoon. My central air runs continuously as heat and humidity build—even with intermittent showers!

Therefore, today is a good day for a Trifecta of summer kigo!

As with multiple challenges before, the choice of the following is up to you:

Challenge number:DateKigo
#1956/12/21midsummer rain (samidare)
#1966/19/21summer moon (natsu no tsuki) / Strawberry Supermoon
#1976/26/21smoldering hot (moyuru)

Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to any one, combination, or all of the kigo listed above.

As always:

Here’s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

The Ring Part 4 (Part 1Part 2, Part 3)

By Tessa Dean June 2021

Eileen dragged Kyle into the coffee shop and they found a table that was vacant. She didn’t want to sit with their friends right now. She was hopping mad and had things on her mind. She wanted to slap that professor, but that just might turn him on more. She had to dampen his interest in her. She had a diary full of things he has done to her ever since she started his class this semester. Now it was time for a little payback. He didn’t have a spouse so she couldn’t go that route and try to break up his marriage. She would love to make his home life miserable, but she didn’t see how to do that without a spouse in the picture. But wait a minute. She assumed there was no spouse as the stories around campus said he was an eligible bachelor, but was he? Did he have a spouse hidden away somewhere back home, wherever that was. She knew he wasn’t local because she had lived in this university town all her life. She knew he came from somewhere else. Maybe it was time to do some sleuthing and see what she could find before putting a plan in place.

Eileen pulled her lap top out of her bag and opened it up. She found a plug near her seat and plugged it in. This might take a while and she had used it all day in classes. Kyle sat watching her with a quizzical look on his face. She had a serious look on her face and he could tell she meant business.

She started searching for a website that would give her all the background on this professor “up to no good.” She found one and started to fill in all the information she knew about him. She had pulled her diary out where she had recorded information about him and his life style that she knew about. His car and license plate would be a big help. She knew where he lived near the campus. She knew his first and last name, but didn’t have a middle name, but hopefully his name wasn’t too common that she would need it.

“Well Kyle, let’s see what our nice little professor is up to and has been up to and maybe he has himself a wife stashed away somewhere. Ooops I need my credit card to pay for this information, but I feel it is worth it. I should have done this sooner.” She found the card and plugged in her credit card number, expiration date and the 3 little numbers on the back of the card. She hesitated briefly before hitting enter.

The Ring Part 3 (Part 1, Part 2)

By Tessa Dean June 2021

**********Eileen’s POV**********

Eileen stared at her grade, scrawled across her paper in red ink, ZERO. Tears began to fall as Kyle hugged her gently.

**********22 words for the weekend prompt**********

Kyle didn’t know exactly what to do for Eileen. He gently rubbed his fingertips across the tears. Neither of them had ever had a zero for a grade. They were both straight-A students. She wiped the tears off of her face and anger replaced the tears along with a wisp of a smile. How dare he, how dare he give her a zero for a grade? She knew this paper was worth an A and she had worked hard on it as usual. She didn’t produce bad papers and she wasn’t about to start now. She turned to Kyle and said, “He isn’t going to get away with this. I don’t know why he gave me a zero, but this paper is definitely not a zero and I am going to find out what his thoughts were on this. Maybe he got my paper mixed up with someone else’s by mistake. That had better be his reason or else. I see the way his creepy eyes are always staring at me, especially at my legs or boobs as if he’s caressing them. He rarely looks at my face. Some days I swear he is staring up my skirt.”

“Eileen, are you sure about this? He is always teasing you, I know, but I thought he was just doing it in fun, but you sound as if he is doing something that needs to be reported to the school authorities.”

“Kyle, he is not just having some fun at my expense. He has been doing some serious stalking moves. I am not a fragile, delicate young girl. He thinks I haven’t noticed, but now that we are engaged you need to know what is going on. I don’t want you thinking I am fooling around with him. This is all on his side and I haven’t said anything, but this grade, is going too far. Watch your back. He is obviously angry over the fact that we are now engaged. I saw him the day you proposed to me, lurking in the bushes behind the sculpture. I suppose he thought I didn’t see him back there. He wasn’t gazing at butterflies or feeling the breeze on his face. He was keeping an eye on us. When you went down on one knee to propose I saw him try to hide his dismay and anger, but it was there. I also saw his disbelief. He thinks of you as just a goofball and that you are poaching on his territory. I have known men like him. He thinks I am mesmerized by his smile and his whimsical jokes, but he disgusts me.”

“Oh my God, Eileen. Are you sure about this? Should we report him for conduct unbecoming a university professor?”

“Not yet, I want to see what else he is up to. He won’t get away with this I promise you that, but I want to see just how far he will go.”

Kyle looked like he had seen a ghost. He face had gone white as she described what he had already done and he was worried that things were about to get worse. The clouds were drifting across the sky as he pondered what she had just told him. He hadn’t noticed anything, but as she pointed things out he began to see the big picture. This professor wasn’t going to take his fiancé away from him. He loved Eileen and she had agreed to marry him.

“Come on,” Eileen said to Kyle, grabbing his hand. She pulled him down the airy passage between the dorm buildings and headed away from the campus towards the coffee shop. She was almost dancing with excitement and he wondered what she was up to.

The Ring Part 2

(Part 1)

By Tessa Dean June 2021

Nathan, known to his students as Professor Nathaniel Greenstone, was hiding in the thick undergrowth and trees surrounding the sculpture of the man or beast, whatever it was. He didn’t care as he was more interested in the scene in front of him with his favorite student Eileen Weatherby and that idiot she was interested in. Although he had no idea what she saw in him, they seemed to be a couple.

Thunder was rumbling in the distance and he thought they would all be caught by the thunderstorm at the rate this whole scene was playing out. He kept himself hidden away so they wouldn’t notice him. Eileen didn’t know that he secretly had a crush on her although he would call it more than a crush. As far as he was concerned she was his girl, not this blithering idiot she hung around with all the time.

The wind was starting to blow rather wildly and Eileen was fighting to keep her skirt down. He kept his eyes glued to her skirt hoping for a glimpse of her panties. He wondered if they were white and just briefs or was she wearing something sexy, perhaps some sexy lacy lingerie.

As the storm came closer, Kyle Sanderson dropped to one knee in front of Eileen. She looked confused and then he pulled a ring box out and he asked her to marry him stating they would never forget this proposal as it was such a strange spot for a marriage proposal. Nathan thought for sure she would say no to such a stupid proposal and there was no romance involved at all.

Nathan couldn’t believe his ears when Eileen said, “Yes Kyle, I will marry you. You do the craziest things, but I think that is one of the things I love about you. You are right, we will never forget the proposal and the crazy sculpture that just might be a man, but who knows for sure.”

As they started to kiss, the storm burst, and the wind kicked up Eileen’s skirt revealing she was wearing pink silk panties. Although they were not lace, they were still sexy. Nathan was sorry she pulled her skirt down so quickly and they raced off together to their car across the park.

He had been following her around everywhere and when she was in his class she rarely paid him any attention even though he was the professor and the one in charge of giving out grades. She did her work and turned it in and then went back to talking to either her girlfriends or Kyle. Her grades were excellent so he knew she wouldn’t be staying after school for help. Perhaps he could give her a failing grade on her test and maybe that would get her to come to him for help. She was a straight-A student and she wouldn’t ignore a failing grade. He wondered if she would be willing to go out with him on a date despite the “marriage proposal” from that bozo. He was considered an available bachelor on campus and most of the girls hung on him in the hopes he would ask them out although he wanted Eileen and she was taken. Was she really in love with that creep?

Nathan couldn’t see how she could be interested in Kyle sex-wise. He was not handsome at all and although he was a straight-A student himself what could they possibly have in common other than that. He was a goofball and she was one of the most popular girls on campus.

The Ring

By Tessa Dean June 2021

The clouds were getting darker and it looked as if a storm was coming up. The winds were getting stronger and Eileen had to constantly grab her skirt to keep it from blowing up. They were standing in front of an odd sculpture someone had carved from wood and Kyle was anxious to get to the place he had in mind to make his marriage proposal. Somehow promising to marry someone in front of this odd sculpture didn’t seem right, but with the winds picking up he didn’t think they would make it to the spot he had chosen and well, he had to admit, neither of them would forget this proposal.

As Eileen continued to fight with her skirt, Kyle cleared his throat and got down on one knee. Eileen was looking at him oddly. “Eileen, will you marry me? I know this is an odd spot, but hey we’ll never forget this proposal will we?”

Eileen took a few seconds, but deciding that Kyle was serious when he pulled out the ring box, she said, “Yes Kyle, I will marry you. You do the craziest things, but I think that is one of the things I love about you. You are right, we will never forget the proposal and the crazy sculpture that just might be a man, but who knows for sure.”

Kyle placed the ring on Eileen’s finger and drew her in for a kiss, a quick one as the clouds suddenly let loose a huge downpour and the wind blew her skirt over her face, giving Kyle a quick peek at her pink panties before he grabbed her hand and they raced across the park to their car.

Wind Storm!

By Tessa Dean June 2021

She turned towards him with a wisp of a smile. She caressed his arm with her fingertips. He finished putting up the tent and led her towards the opening. They zipped themselves in, and lips met lips only to have a huge windstorm tear through the campsite and rip the tent from around them, exposing them to the elements.

He held her close as the tree limbs battered the ground around them. Then finally, he looked for somewhere safe for them to go and decided that the cars would be the safest place to get out of the sudden wind.
