Parking
by Tessa Dean November 2021
Living in the city had many disadvantages. One is the parking. I lived in an apartment atop the local book shop.
Finding a parking spot on a street that only had parallel parking meant I usually had to park lots of streets away and walk no matter the time or weather.
Maybe I should move back to the country where I was born and raised. There I didn’t have to deal with parallel parking and it was quieter too. Living atop a store that was noisy during the day when I needed quiet to concentrate on my writing was frustrating.

Tessa,
Finding a parking space would be bad enough, but then the noisy store below too: I think I would move to the country and write to my heart’s content!

City living is not for everyone, but I expect it suits some.

I hate it, but yes some would live nowhere else.

Better to move, I suppose. If having a car is necessary. A noisy store makes it worse.

My daughter lived in an apartment over a bridal store. It wasn’t as busy as some places were. But parking was a pain and she had little ones to drag around plus groceries, etc.

Oh yes. My friend’s kids lived in NYC. They rode the train to his place to get their cars. Why so many are giving up their cars. 🙂

I too live atop a book shop in a busy street, and my car’s a long way off! I was brought up in a farming community but I wouldn’t return, I find the hustle and bustle of town life inspirational!
Here’s mine!
