Grab yourself a beverage and pull up a chair. If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I was working on editing my very first almost completed novel and preparing for the World Wide Writeathon and that I am cohosting three of them.

I am slowly working on my novel again. Not with a lot of enthusiasm, but working on it. I haven’t decided what I want to do with it. This constant in and out of the hospital routine is making writing very difficult and the constant interruptions are hard to work around. I have made progress though and maybe I will have this ready in time for professional edits after all. I have an almost completed novel now and so I have something to work on. I just need some editing, corrections and to add a piece I forgot to add to the ending so I can write this as a series if I decide to go through with it.

I still have the walking boot on my foot and when the blood clots cause swelling in my legs it becomes very uncomfortable. Monday June 7th is my doctor appointment to see if it healed and if I can remove it. I will be so glad to get it off. I am so exhausted and while in the hospital I got no sleep so trying to see if I can get caught up. I was withdrawing from my anxiety medicine and it was causing a lot of issues so now that I am back on schedule I am sleeping and able to use my BiPap machine and my fears are starting to recede again. I was terrified of everything and it was made worse due to the lack of my anti-anxiety medicine.

If all goes well I hope to have a new aide to help me. I have been without one since the middle of May and struggling to do everything myself as well as I can which isn’t very good. My house is a mess and will stay that way until I get an aide again. No news on the assisted living yet.

Have a great week everyone.

Grab yourself a beverage and pull up a chair. If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I ended up back in the hospital again. This time for pulmonary embolisms. Yes that is plural. Some of which were quite large and affected my breathing so I have a partial answer now on that. I am now on blood thinners for the rest of my life.

I am slowly working on my novel again. Not with a lot of enthusiasm, but working on it. I haven’t decided what I want to do with it. This constant in and out of the hospital routine is making writing very difficult and the constant interruptions are hard to work around.

I still have the walking boot on my foot and when the blood clots caused swelling in my legs it became very uncomfortable. I had it off while confined to a hospital bed and it was a relief. Monday June 7th is my doctor appointment to see if it healed and if I can remove it. I will be so glad to get it off. I am so exhausted and while in the hospital I got no sleep so trying to see if I can get caught up. I have a livestream tonight at 6 PM on YouTube and so need to try and nap some since I only got 2 hours this morning after being up almost the entire night. My sleep schedule is so weird.

Being in the hospital so much has also caused a major backlog in filing mail. I have gone through most of it, but there is so much to file.

Next weekend is a big weekend for me. It is the World Wide Writeathon and I am cohosting on three different time slots (writing sprints) on YouTube. I like doing this writing weekend and live streaming on YouTube 5 evenings a week. The WWW is held 3 times a year the month before a NANOWRIMO month.

Have a great week everyone.

#WeekendCoffeeShare : Writing and Moods

Grab yourself a beverage and pull up a chair. If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I found getting around on this walking boot getting easier and I am getting better at getting dressed with it on. I have to use a dressing stick, but it has gotten easier. I still don’t have an aide so it is up to me to get dressed by myself. I was used to having an aide during the week and only having to get dressed by myself on the weekends. Luckily I found an easier way to do it so it doesn’t take more than a few extra minutes. I was used to struggling by myself on the weekends, but practice does make perfect as they say.

Now for my writing. I am used to writing short stories, flash fiction or poetry. Every year I would start NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month), but until recently I never finished anything or had an interest to finish it and some years I never really got started. So I found one that I was actually interested in finishing. I worked on it and sent it to beta readers for critique and then started the rewrite and editing. I ended up doing some research on murder/mysteries and then decided to change it and now have to do another rewrite. After almost 2 months of not writing, not finishing NANOWRIMO camp, I have found my interest dwindling. Now some of that can probably be blamed on my Bipolar Disorder, but I have found that I probably bit off more than I can chew and when I went from one book to a series I became unfocused and started several books at once. Now I don’t even feel like finishing book one. So currently I am working on prompt writing for my blog instead. That is where I am most comfortable.

Now yesterday my daughter came over and we started going through my things as I am on the list for an assisted living facility and I won’t be able to take all of this stuff and I do have way more than an average person needs. She hauled several bags of trash and recycles out. Then we filled 3 kitchen sized bags of clothing for donations and a couple of bags with clothes not suitable for donation, plus 2 small boxes of books. It hardly looks like I made a dent in here except for where my clothes were hanging. We did cut them way back, but I still have a lot of clothes and may still have to downsize them. We ran out of time when her husband’s truck broke down and she had to go get him, but I was getting tired and sore anyhow so it was good that we ended there. I don’t know how long it will take to go through all of this and of course I have no idea when they will find me a place to go either. If we find something fast we will have to pick up the pace. I am not looking forward to moving again and into a facility, but for my health’s sake I don’t have a lot of choice.

Have a great week everyone.

#WeekendCoffeeShare : Broken Foot and Finally Out of Rehab Hospital

and newest post is here.

Thanks to Natalie the Explorer for hosting this prompt.

I was wondering if anyone was hosting the coffee share or not. I just happened to come across it on another blog I was reading.

7 weeks ago I broke my foot. I am 64 years old and disabled so this made it necessary that I had to go to a rehab hospital. The place was terrible and I am trying to decide whether to report them to the state. Everyone is encouraging me to do it. There was definite neglect and mistreatment of the patients (including me) and a lot of them were older people who did not have their faculties about them. I did and so they couldn’t pull that stuff off without me noticing and telling people what was going on. It was limited mainly to the one section of the hospital which was the 2 week quarantine area for Covid. I was moved at two and a half weeks to the main rehab section and except for a few things it was considerably better and I was able to build up a rapport with my aides and nurses.

I was there almost 7 weeks. Just got home the other day, but still having difficulty with a lot of things and although I have a walking boot, walking is still difficult. I hope to have it off soon, but that will depend on how well it is healing. My appointment is on June 7 with the orthopedic doctor who examined me. He said it should take only 6 weeks to heal. I hope he is right. Other people have told me other stories of how it took them longer.

For those of you who do not know, I am a writer. Besides blogging I write short stories, poetry and my first novel is at the point it is almost ready for professional editing. My one novel suddenly became a series and not being able to write while in the hospital since I am not great with my iPhone, really upset me. I had to put off my editing since I wasn’t ready and had made some changes to the story itself and still have to finish them, but since my editor was sick and in the hospital the same time as me, she’s not ready to edit it anyhow so I have time to work on it. The other thing that bothered me was that I ended up missing NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month – April Edition). I was going to finish book one and then start on book two. I am not going to publish these either traditionally or Indie. I am going to publish them on my blog. I currently have a section of my memoir on there and the link is below to that.

I am an avid youtuber in the authortube section on writing (see link below to my channel). I make videos and I run live streams where we do timed writing sprints and I am the host of the one connected to my channel. I really missed them while I was in the hospital. I have to restart them and might do one tonight to get back into the groove.

The other big thing in my life right now is that I am looking for an assisted living facility. I can’t live alone anymore and I don’t want to go to a nursing home. Assisted Living is in-between and I will still have some freedom although I might have a roommate. It won’t be fancy as it will be paid for by Medicaid which is state run and so nothing fancy. Can’t afford to move to one otherwise since I live on a small Social Security Disability check. The aide that Medicaid was providing for me quit while I was in the hospital and so I don’t have any help at all right now. The aide cleaned, did some light cooking, did laundry, shopped, bathed and dressed me. I am currently on my own right now. Aides are hard to find due to Covid 19.

Last night one of my daughters brought me a meal for Mother’s Day. She brought all three of her children ranging in age from 23 years, 14 years and a 1 year old. I haven’t seen the youngest grow up. We went into lockdown a couple of months after he was born. I saw him born and then just pictures of him mainly. Yesterday he was running around here. He has large bright blue eyes. Blue eyes are not very common in my family.
