Three Things Challenge #M103

Prompt Rules:

Pensitivity101 Rules:

Welcome to my daily Three Things Challenge!
Our numbers now begin with a prefix of M (the Roman numeral for 1000) and I’ve introduced a theme each week. The words can be used in a variety of contexts, so use your imagination and see where your creativity takes you. Your post doesn’t have to be connected to the theme and you can use all three words, two or just one. There are no restrictions regarding length, style, or genre, but please keep it family friendly.
Tag your responses with 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC, and add my logo if you wish.

This week’s theme is EMOTIONS
Your three words today are:
LOVE
SADNESS
LOYALTY

As One Life Ends!

By Tessa Dean October 2022

Sandy sat by the side of her 16 year old cat and comforted her as much as possible. She loved Mazy with all her heart, but she had seen a kitten for free at her neighbors house and would have loved to have her, but she was loyal to Mazy and cried in sadness as she was told by her parents that Mazy was dying and it would be a loving gesture to have the vet put her to sleep and out of her misery.

Sandy cried and didn’t know what to do. She felt that as long as Mazy was alive she couldn’t get another kitten to replace her although her neighbors had to get rid of the last kitten they had. She was torn in her thoughts. If she put Mazy to sleep would it be disloyal to get another kitten so soon? Her parents told her it was her choice.

Finally she made the decision to put Mazy to sleep and cried while the vet made the injection to end the misery of the dearly loved cat. Despite the situation she decided it was only right for her to be there for Mazy as she passed from this life.

She spent the night crying and trying to decide if she wanted another kitten so soon or at all. She hated the thought of possibly having to do this again.

The next morning she told her mother she had a dream about Mazy and she was playing with a beautiful black kitten. The neighbor’s kitten was black and she felt the dream meant that Mazy thought she should get the kitten and so they went to the neighbors and she picked up the new kitten. It was a female and she named her Misty.

Weekend Writing Prompt #279 – Superimpose

**********

Online Pictures

By Tessa Dean October 2022

Mia made a collection of pictures of porcelain dolls and wanted to put them on the web, but she was afraid that someone would claim them as theirs. Maggie, her best friend, suggested that she superimpose a watermark of some kind on the pictures that showed she was the owner and the pictures couldn’t be taken.

Sammi’s Rules:

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Word Prompt

Superimpose

Challenge

Weekend Writing Prompt #279: This weekend your challenge is to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 56 words using the word “Superimpose”.

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem / prose must contain this week’s word (see note below).  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem / prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.
  • A note on the word: you can use any variation of the word (for example: call, calls, calling, called etc).  If you find you are struggling to use this week’s word you may substitute it for a synonym – just include a note to explain the swap.  Remember, this is supposed to be fun!

#99Word Stories, Fiction, Flash Fiction, Prompt, The Carrot Ranch

The Carrot Ranch 99 Word Flash Fiction

This is my first post with The Carrot Ranch (#99Word Stories). Hope I did it right.

**********

Sally balanced on the 4×4 length of wood as if it were a tightrope. She didn’t want to take a turn, but they would all laugh at her if she didn’t and it wasn’t a real tightrope as it was lying flat on the ground. What could possibly happen?

She was balancing carefully on the board and in her anxiety tripped and fell off. Imagine her horror when she broke her arm and started to sob in front of all of her friends who were all watching her and didn’t notice she was actually hurt. Or care one bit!

Rules:

September 26, 2022, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about a broken arm. What happened? Is there a cause and effect because of the broken arm? Was the injury faked? Why? Go where the prompt leads!
