One-Liner Wednesday – Roto Rooter

Badge by Laura @ riddlefromthemiddle.com

“Backed up toilets, every few days equals Roto-Rooter to the rescue.”

(Constantly backing up toilets is annoying as hell, and it is affecting a whole wing of the building.)

Linda’s Rules:

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

It’s Pouring!

by Tessa Dean October 2022

There was a small restaurant at the spa where we were getting our hair and makeup done for Tammy’s wedding tonight! We were met by tall windows showing the current pouring rain.

First, we had to get our hair done, and how were we to get from the salon to the church and not ruin our hair and makeup? One of the workers got these large, over-size umbrellas from their outdoor lunch tables and held them over the girls so they could get in the car and then lent them one umbrella to ensure they got into the church dry.

What Have I Done Now?

By Tessa Dean October 2022

As I have been talking about my new home in the assisted living facility, my story becomes sadder and sadder, and I am really unhappy. I am afraid to complain and cause more issues because I have been yelled at about being upset about the things that are happening, and they really shouldn’t be happening. I am uncertain about complaining since it causes me more issues.

Grandma’s Teapot

By Tessa Dean

Breaking glass followed by gasps of pure horror pierced Annie’s ears. She stared at the floor and the shards of china from her grandmother’s tea set that was decades older than Grandmother even.

Everyone began talking at once, while grandmother just sat there, and a silent tear ran down her cheek. Annie began apologizing, “Oh, Grandma, I am sorry. It just slipped out of my hand.” She began crying too.

“How many times have you been told not to touch Grandma’s teapot, Annie?” her mother said.

“I said I was sorry!” She deliberately knocked off several teacups as well.

The Carrot Ranch Rules:

October 3, 2022, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about any ritual involving tea. It can be a daily afternoon tea prepared specifically or the reading of tea leaves in a cup. What do you know? What do you imagine? Is your story deep and ponderous or bright and flash? Go where the prompt leads!
