Appendage and Culprit – Words of the Day

Rules for Word of the Day Challenge:

Rules for One Daily Prompt:

********************

The scarecrow was put out in the field to scare off crows, but for some reason, the crows ignored the one in Farmer John’s outermost fields. Eventually, someone began shooting at the appendages waving in the breeze until there were none left. The culprits were likely teenagers out having fun for Halloween, but they were never caught.

Non-Fiction, Prompt, Share Your World

Share Your World improvised: Just in Case

Di standing in for Melanie:

I’m aware Melanie has been having some computer problems and I’m late accessing my blog today but can see no Share Your World for today, so I’m jumping in Just in Case.
Melanie usually asks four questions  and you can join in either by writing your own post and pingback to this one, or leave your responses in the comments. She always offers a gratitude section so I am staying with that too.

So, my questions are:

1.  When you go food shopping, do you go with a list or amble down the aisles putting things in your basket or cart that you fancy or think you need? I haven’t grocery shopped in ages. Before moving to the facility where they provide 3 meals I was having my groceries delivered to me because I couldn’t physically shop anymore.

2.  When the temperatures drop for the colder months, is there a specific date you put the heating on or do you flick the switch when you start to feel cold? No date. I turn it on when I need it.

3. Keeping with the cold theme, do you prefer a hot water bottle or an electric blanket at night? I have neither.

4.  How do you feel about log burners? Do you think they are messy or cosy? I am not sure what these are. If they are the logs you can buy and just light for a quick fire, I have to say they are useful for getting a good fire going fast.

Three Things Challenge #M119

Prompt Rules:

Welcome to my daily Three Things Challenge!
Our numbers now begin with a prefix of M (the Roman numeral for 1000) and I’ve introduced a theme each week. The words can be used in a variety of contexts, so use your imagination and see where your creativity takes you. Your post doesn’t have to be connected to the theme and you can use all three words, two or just one. There are no restrictions regarding length, style, or genre, but please keep it family friendly.
Tag your responses with 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC, and add my logo if you wish.

This week’s theme is another random selection.
Your three words today are:
SPEECH
THERAPY
CLINIC

The Speech!

By Tessa Dean October 2022

Paul stepped out of the clinic from his speech therapy and hurried down the hall, where he was expected to give a speech on his new invention. Before he had taken up speech therapy, he never would have had the courage to give a speech because people would laugh at him. Now he dared to get up in front of people and speak on his favorite subject, his new invention. He worked hard with the speech therapist to get to where he was today and will never forget what she did for him.

Now was his big moment, and he looked over the crowd who had come to hear him speak. He found his speech therapist sitting there in case he needed encouragement, but she had done her job, and he was ready to give his speech. He had a few butterflies, but he was ready to go and launched into his speech once the crowd had quieted down. They all listened intently, and there was plenty of applause after he spoke.

When he asked if anyone had any questions for him, they asked serious questions. They seemed eager to put his theory into practice once his invention became available to the public.

His speech therapist rose to her feet to give him a standing ovation, and the audience followed suit—another successful patient for the therapist. He was surrounded as soon as he exited the podium and joined the crowd.

Praise to the Sun

By Tessa Dean October 2022

Matthew parks near the beach, which is located near the Atlantic Ocean. He likes to exercise in the early morning as the sun is rising. As the colorful sky starts to lighten the area, he faces the sun and does some yoga stretching. His girlfriend, Annie, had promised to join him this morning to celebrate the sun’s rising, but she was late, and the sun quickly poked through the clouds before she had a chance to join him.

She ran up, apologizing, but it was too late. The sun rose quickly, and you couldn’t linger over whatever excuse she had this time. He was afraid she would never join him, and he was passionate about the sun rising every day and meeting it with outstretched arms. It was how he started every day, rain or shine.

Matthew was fed up with her unfilled promises. He finished his meditation and then turned to her and said he would no longer wait for her to join him. He was sorry, but he was through with their relationship. He wanted someone as passionate as he was about seeing the sunrise. He worshipped the sun.

Annie pleaded with him, but he was tired of her excuses, and she knew how he felt about starting his day. He would continue alone until he found the woman who was as passionate about the sun rising as he was.

My smile:

Today I joined in a craft activity. My children have been encouraging me to join in the different activities. I have been playing BINGO, but today was a craft for a Halloween decoration. I also did the painting day and made caramel apples as well.
