My smile:

My sister took me to lunch Sunday for my birthday.

My daughter brought my youngest grandson for a short visit.

I have been watching the old “Here’s Lucy” with Lucille Ball and many documentaries about her and Desi. Although I enjoy their shows immensely, I was disappointed to hear that they didn’t have the happy Hollywood marriage they portrayed in their shows. I don’t know how I missed all the drama and their divorce due to Desi’s cheating on Lucy in real life. At least I am enjoying the shows Lucy puts on by herself without him just as well.

The group of kids were out in the darkness and past curfew. Since they were in a hurry to get home, they crossed the creek on the large stepping stones. It was getting spooky out there, so one of the kids turned on a flashlight to light their way except they slipped and dropped the flashlight in the water, and it wouldn’t work anymore. They continued hurriedly in the darkness towards home.

Lush Green Gardens

By Tessa Dean October 2022

“Come here, Leo,” Robert called to his dog.”Come this way, and let’s see what’s down this path.” The dog turned to follow him, and they headed down the wooded path. The dog had to stop and sniff almost every tree or bush continually. They eventually came to a brick wall. They followed it around until they came to an opening and looked in. A beautiful view of a garden led up to the mountains in the distance. He didn’t go all the way in this time.

Robert and Leo rested, scoping out the area he could clearly see, and decided that he and his wife Lisa would explore the gardens the next time they walked the dog together. He decided on their next hike together that they would bring a picnic and then explore as far as Lisa could walk. She wasn’t in great shape like Robert, who took long walks with the dog and got plenty of exercise every day.

Lisa agreed to the picnic and then a hike through the gardens. The day they headed out, it was warm and sunny, and Lisa was enchanted with the garden. They found a lush green spot, spread the blanket, and set out the picnic. They spent a pleasant afternoon exploring the park and the mountains that were closest to them.
