Linda’s Rules:

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

For Sale

by Tessa Dean November 2022

When my younger brother asked if he could park his friend’s car in my parking spot on my street till it sold since I wasn’t using it, I thought nothing about it. My brother had a nice car, so I never expected the old weird green car that appeared in my parking space.

I called him up and asked him who the car belonged to. He had a foolish grin on his face and said it was his and he hoped I didn’t mind if he left it there til it sold. My neighbors would certainly mind, I spat out.

Christmas Show!

By Tessa Dean November 2022

I was this year’s lead planner in the Christmas show for the elementary school, and those kids were in third to sixth grade. As I sat there, with my pencil and paper ready to make plans, I started nodding off, so I planned on a short nap. However, I ended up in a full doze and was sound asleep.

When I woke up, I searched my memories of prior years for a hint of an idea for what we should do this year. I didn’t really want this job as I was afraid of not being able to achieve it and come up with a show. I didn’t want to duplicate any of the prior years, but there are only so many possible ideas. Plus, this show had to be suitable for little kids.

I decided to do a manger scene with the children surrounding it and singing Christmas carols. We could hand out sheets with the words to the songs on them so the audience could join in if they wanted. I wondered if any of the children could do a solo? Surely some of the 6th graders could possibly do a solo, and people always get a kick out of little children singing. I would have to hold auditions to see if any of them could sing a solo.

Plus, we would start with a reenactment of the birth of Christ. We could use the really young ones for that since there wouldn’t be any lines to learn, just a narrator telling the story as they did the reenactment.

With my idea done, except for fleshing it out and choosing who would play what part, all I had to worry about was whether the children could sing the Christmas songs, which was a bit worrisome. I will probably lose some sleep over this.
