One-Liner Wednesday – Bingo Prizes

Badge by Laura @ riddlefromthemiddle.com

Today was our day to use our bingo buck winnings to buy little trinkets and stuff we might need, and so I used all of mine up and made a pretty good haul, including a foot-high old-fashioned Santa for decoration.

Linda’s Rules:

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

Five?

By Tessa Dean November 2022

Sandy had spent most of her adult life wishing for a child. She had seen many births, as her sisters each had children, but the miracle of life never visited her, no matter how hard she tried.

She was approaching her late 40s and it was becoming an even more distant dream. After watching her baby sister give birth, she started to cry, hiding her tears of sadness, saying they were tears of happiness. Everyone knew she wanted a child, but not how much she wanted one. She tried the fertility clinic, and it wasn’t helping either.

She decided to give up and stopped her fertility treatments, but a few weeks later, she felt nauseous every morning. She cursed the nausea, but the thought never crossed her mind that she could be pregnant. Every morning she ate crackers or dry toast, trying to settle her stomach. Her sisters were watching her, and having all been through several pregnancies, they all began chatting amongst themselves.

Finally, they brought the idea up to Sandy about the possibility that she might be pregnant and that she should take a pregnancy test. She told them she thought they were crazy. She hadn’t gotten pregnant yet, so why now that she stopped the treatments two days ago?

After several days of encouragement, one of her sisters bought a test, and they all gathered around her while she peed on the stick. They waited anxiously. Positive! They couldn’t believe it. They had several tests, and she took all of them with the same result. They were all crying as she called the doctor to make an appointment. The doctor confirmed the pregnancy. Everyone was shocked and ecstatic.

When the day came for the ultrasound, she had even more to be surprised about. It was not one baby, but they had found five heartbeats so far, most likely due to the fertility treatments. She was to be blessed with more than one child. There were at least five in there. The exact count would come later as the fetuses grew. The family celebrated the occasion with a party. Sandy knew she had a long, difficult journey ahead of her, and she would have been happy with only one child, but she could be lucky and have all five of them survive. After all these years of waiting and hoping, they would have a houseful of children.

Curfew!

By Tessa Dean November 2022

Rhoda was arguing with her 15-year-old daughter about her curfew again. This was a nightly argument and Rhoda was getting tired of it. She looked at her husband for some support, and all he said was, “It’s not my monkeys, not my circus.”

Rhoda stared at her husband Rupert for a bit in confusion. “What the heck!”

Rupert looked at her and said, “It’s not my problem, Rhoda. She’s your daughter, and she never listens to me, so I am not getting involved in your fight.” He turned and left the room.

“Come back here!” She ran after him.
