Thanks to Natalie, the Explorer, for hosting this prompt.

Grab a chair and something to drink. If you were here, I would tell you that things are somewhat better. I hope this is a change for the better although we have no hot water most of the time and that is not cool. At the moment it is hot. Hope it stays that way. This has been going on for months now.

NaNoWriMo ended at 46,444 words out of the 50,000 goal. Better than I expected to be honest.

I have been playing Scrabble on my iPad so far. Still have a lot to learn about using it.

Now that I am writing more I am reading less which is good and bad. I miss doing both so trying to do them both.

They are cutting down on the amount of time that we are playing BINGO and the ladies do not like it. I don’t blame thme because I feel the same way.

Have a great week, everyone.

Impact – Word of the Day Challenge

Rules for the Word of the Day Challenge:

Today’s word of the day is IMPACT.

********************

My dad knew the impact was inevitable. He braced himself, but his passenger had no time to brace himself. When the car rear-ended them and sent them into the intersection, they were hit by the traffic entering the intersection, unaware of the impending collision. They had been in a stopped position, but the impact was strong enough to push them into the intersection, and it was out of my dad’s hands.

My dad’s friend’s leg was stuck in the center of the front floor where the console was. He couldn’t get out. My dad got out and saw the flames licking up the back of the car towards the gas tank. He didn’t have much time, but he put his life on the line to help get his friend out. He pulled him free and out of the car just before the explosion.

He risked his life for his friend’s life with no time to think about it. My mom was so glad that we kids had not been in the back seat as there was no backseat left. The impact pushed the trunk into the back seat. We wouldn’t have made it out of there alive. Plus, my dad would have had to decide who to save because he couldn’t have saved four people before the explosion. Luckily there was only one other person involved, and they both made it out safely.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Dec. 3, 2022

**********

I know several sets of twins where you couldn’t tell the difference between them.

**********

Linda’s Rules for #SoCS!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “twin/tween.” Use, “twin” or “tween” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use both. Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley!
https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

This week’s theme is TIME
Your final three words for this week are:
MEMORIES
CHILDHOOD
PRESENT

Memories

By Tessa Dean December 2022

Once upon a time, I actually had memories. Most of them were actually sad, but there was a good one every now and then. My childhood memories were the worst. I would never want to repeat that time.

Christmas is not my favorite time of year. It never has been, and there are several reasons. One thing I hate, even til the present, is “Secret Santa.” Every time I participated in it, it never failed, I carefully bought my present and waited excitedly for mine, and I never got one. It was always one thing after another, and people would feel sorry for me. One of the biggest reasons at work why I didn’t get one would be the person had quit. It wasn’t like it was just late, I wasn’t getting one. And I know that isn’t the only reason for Christmas, but when it happens to you time after time, it begins to get to you. So I gave up on it and never getting a present. I will not participate in “Secret Santas” or pollyannas ever again.
