Carnival

By Tessa Dean December 2022

Jackie stopped her car and got out at the park that was the entrance to a large forest. Most people used the park but avoided the forest because they preferred being in the sun rather than in the dark forest. It was part of the national park, and although people thought she was nuts for preferring the forest’s darkness, she hated the sun and did not pay homage to it at all. She preferred to be lazy and find a nice shady spot that didn’t let the sun in so she could enjoy the cool darkness and be left alone, whether it was reading or her own thoughts. She rarely took anyone with her since she preferred her own company.

Icicle – Word of the Day Challenge

Rules for the Word of the Day Challenge:

Today’s word of the day is ICICLE.

********************

As the day wore on and the sun shone on the gutters, the icicles got longer and longer in length. Aggie was afraid that their weight would pull the gutters off the roof. She tried to pull down the ones hanging over her doorway because she feared their weight would pull them down and hurt someone. She got out her hairdryer and extension cord and aimed the heat on the icicles so they would melt and come off before someone did get hurt. It happened to her neighbor last year, and the person who was hit by the icicle sued her for reckless endangerment. That was the last thing she needed.

Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt #290 – Perpetual

Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt Rules:

The Forest

By Tessa Dean December 2022

Jason and Janet wandered through the forest that was in perpetual darkness due to the large, thick growth of trees. Most people avoided this part of the forest as they preferred just occasional shade from the sun, not an area that was in constant darkness. Jason and Janet enjoyed strolling down the paths and settling down in peaceful quiet for a picnic on a hot day. No one seems to want to stroll these paths as much as a path with sunshine also available.
