Grab a chair and something to drink. If you were here, I would tell you that things have been a little rough still. Still no heat or hot water most days. We shouldn’t have to live this way.

I haven’t written much in the last 3 weeks. Actually, I haven’t written anything at all. Bad time of year for me, but I did get to see my son and partner, and it has been about a year since the last time I saw them. I got to see most of my family at some point during those couple of weeks around Christmas and New Year’s.

The facility is filling up fast now. And they aren’t hiring new help to keep up with it, and the help keeps quitting. I get my bedtime medicines very late, and it takes about an hour to take all the treatments and meds. I am exhausted. Plus, the medicines make me drowsy, so I am tired all day. We are losing all of our old nurses, and these new nurses don’t know what they are doing. This place has me stressed out. I keep running out of meds, and they just blame the pharmacy, but we are stuck with this pharmacy.

Our dining room is supposed to be two shifts when full, but it can barely hold a third of us now. I don’t know what they plan on doing once we are full at 150 plus. Most people have walkers or wheelchairs and need them, so there is no place to park them now. What happens once we are full? Things were not thought out, and they had a whole year while I waited for them to open to be working on this, and instead, they waited until the last minute.

I was supposed to have my room cleaned today, but that didn’t happen. If it did, it was while I was out, and they didn’t empty the trash. I hate to have to complain about this to management, but sometimes it gets to the point that I have no choice but to complain. The thing is, it doesn’t really help. I am stuck here as there is nowhere else I can go. The thought of living here long term is not a happy one, and by the time I need long-term nursing care in a nursing home, it will only be worse. Most people don’t have to worry about nursing homes and assisted living until they are at least in their mid 70s and older, but I am just 66 and already stuck in this rut.

Have a great week, everyone. Happy New Year.
