6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is tight.

The Three Things Challenge #737. The three words are bells, buttons, and bows.

The Word of the Day Challenge. The word is question

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is rain.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is ignore.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is wild.

**********

The rain was pouring down heavily outside, and Jasmine, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness about her new store, tried to pull her raincoat tighter around her. The wind was blowing wildly, whipping her hair around. Jasmine hurried into the library, closing the door tightly behind her. She tried to ignore the rain dripping off her, focusing on the task before her.

Realizing the importance of community in her venture, Jasmine hurried to the librarian for help. She needed information about doll manufacturers for her new collector doll store, and the librarian’s knowledge and answers to her questions were crucial for her to gather her inventory for the grand opening in a few weeks. Having already found catalogs from some of the more upscale doll clothing manufacturers, Jasmine was captivated by the variety of doll clothes. Some were adorned with bells, bows, and fancy buttons, each outfit more charming than the last. Her vision was clear-she wanted to offer a range of outfits for the dolls, not just the one that came with the doll upon purchase. She understood that real collectors of the more expensive dolls might not want to change the outfit the doll arrived in, but she also knew there was a market for those who would appreciate a variety of outfits to change them out occasionally.

The Daily Spur Photo Prompt

“What do you find so interesting outside that window?” Mary, Yolanda’s long-time friend, asked. “You have been staring out the whole time we have been visiting.”

“We have new neighbors moving in. They have their own car. No one in here has their own car. We have to take a taxi or bum rides from family and friends. I have been wondering if I can make friends with the woman. She is pregnant and may not feel like driving me around.”

“You would befriend her and then ask her to drive you around? That’s gutsy. Maybe you should wait before asking her to be your chauffeur,” Mary advised, her voice tinged with amusement.

“I will see. Maybe she’s not friendly. Hmmm, one of our neighbors is already over there. I wonder what they are talking about,” Yolanda mused, a hint of curiosity in her voice.

“You have to be nuts. I wouldn’t pounce on her right away. She will think you only want to be friends so that she will drive you around. Besides, maybe he drives the car to work.”

“I’ll tell you what she says when I talk to her.”

Yolanda got up to leave, and Mary walked her out. She wandered over to the apartment building across the street, the sound of her footsteps echoing in the quiet street, and approached the new couple. “Hi,” she said. Welcome to the complex. Are you military, too? I’m Yolanda,” she said to the woman.

“I’m Tammy, and he’s Will. Will is in the Marine Corps,” she replied.

“Oh, nice to meet you. Are you new to the military? We have been here for a few weeks and hope to get base housing.”

“Will is in school, so we will be here for about three months. What is there to do around here?”

“The beach is around five minutes away, and we usually go there once Raymond, my husband, finishes work.”

“Oh that sounds like fun. Although being pregnant is tiring for me. I only have a few months left til I deliver. I get bored easily, but I am so tired. I am having twins. I can’t imagine having two children at once. People tell me that having more than one baby at a time is hard, and I can imagine that it entails a lot of running around. Do you have any children, Yolanda?” Tammy asked, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and exhaustion.

“No, not yet. Although it is not for lack of trying. I just haven’t been able to conceive yet.”

“My doctor is going to put me on bed rest here soon. The babies are growing rather fast and I won’t be able to get around very easily. It means staying in bed 24 hours a day.”

Oh, rats, she won’t be able to drive either then. Yolanda lost interest in the conversation when she realized that she wouldn’t be able to get her to drive her around. “Oh, my husband is home, and I have to get ready to head to the beach. See you around,” Yolanda said, her disappointment evident in her voice.

Yoland hurried back to her apartment, her mind filled with thoughts of the new couple. She told Raymond about them, leaving out her disappointment that she wouldn’t be able to get a ride from the new woman as she was pregnant with twins and about to be bedridden.

6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is paramount.

The Three Things Challenge #735. The three words are settle, argue and remorse.

The Word of the Day Challenge. The word is inventor.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is rally.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is proof.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is pretty.

**********

To the inventor, Roslyn Caster, her child’s safety was paramount. The pretty, young inventor kept her house baby-proofed, especially the room where she worked on her projects. She expected her mother-in-law, who watched her child while she worked, to ensure her house was safe. They argued frequently about the possibility that her child would be harmed in her mother-in-law’s home, with the main point of contention being the mother-in-law’s perceived lack of attention to safety measures. Her mother-in-law felt no remorse over telling her daughter-in-law that she was perfectly capable of taking care of a young child. Roslyn wished her husband would rally around and settle the arguments between the two women. Rosly wished her mother was available to babysit for her instead of her husband’s mother, but she was always at work. She had to use what was available to her, unless she wanted to trust a perfect stranger to watch the child.

6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge, Plus the Weekly Prompt

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts and one Weekly Prompt.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is vary.

The Three Things Challenge #733. The three words are bag, bread, and cake.

The Word of the Day Challenge. The word is folly.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is tough.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is excavation.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is tender.

**********

And the weekly prompt which is the word below.

**********

The archaeology professor, fully aware of the potential significance of her students’ work, gazed below into the excavation where ancient human remains and artifacts were discovered. She had just had a passionate debate with her students, emphasizing the importance of their role in unearthing these treasures and the folly of leaving their findings unattended, where others could potentially steal the credit for their dedicated work.

It was tough working with new students who didn’t quite grasp the full seriousness and importance of their work and how there was always someone looking to take credit for it. It was almost lunchtime, and they would take a break from their work. She picked up the bag and laid out a spread of bread, tender meat, cheese, and cake for dessert.

After lunch, she would vary their subject matter from human remains to the different types of artifacts available from this historical period. She would show them the crucial role of proper labeling in preserving and documenting their finds, emphasizing its significance in the field of archaeology.

6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango, The Three Things Challenge, and the Unicorn Photo Challenge

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts plus the Unicorn Challenge which is a photo prompt.

The Unicorn Challenge. Maximum of 250 words.

© Ayr/Gray

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is candelabra.

The Three Things Challenge #732. The three words are carpet, slay, fibre (fiber).

The Word of the Day Challenge. The word is participation.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is sculpture.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is nationalist.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is original.

**********

The outside of the building had multicolored shutters. They were all closed except for one, which had a candelabra sitting on the windowsill.

This was the building I had been directed to. The realtor had told me that it housed several different businesses. The first floor had been a carpet store. The carpets were made of many different fibers, some man-made. I had been told that the building was originally a restaurant before it sold out to the carpet store.

The second floor had housed a sculpture store, and if you were interested, many classes had been available for participation.

I turned to the realtor and said, “You slay me. Did you think I would be interested in buying this building? You have to be joking!”

“I slay you? You slay me, thinking that miserable sum you said you had available would buy you a fancy building. This is the only thing I have available in your price range.”

“Surely you have something else available. I just need an office for my nationalist interests. A place where we can plan our protests of the local regime.”

“I told you this is the only thing available.”

“It is much too big. I just need a small office. Surely there is an office available somewhere,”

“Let’s go. I have nothing else to show you, and you don’t seem interested in this building.”

“I’ll take it,” I sighed.

6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is prophesy.

The Three Things Challenge #730. The three words are view, saw, and vision.

The Word of the Day Challenge. The word is heart.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is yawn.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is huge.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is words.

**********

I was subject to dreams that involved prophecy. These dreams would sometimes come true. Thankfully, not all dreams were visions of the future, but I saw enough to be worried every night when I fell asleep. Not everyone believed me when I told them I had dreams that came true. Some people viewed me as crazy.

I yawned as I struggled to wake up from a dream. I couldn’t find the words to explain the dream I had woken up from. My heart was pounding as I hoped this was not one of my prophetic dreams because I had dreamed of the death of my child. I couldn’t go back to sleep after that. I stayed awake until morning and found that my child was ok.

One of my early dreams that night was about a huge spider. That one was scary, but I wasn’t overly worried that I would see one. It was something you would see in a horror story, and I could see it as a dream world rather than reality.

6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is elevator.

The Three Things Challenge #727. The three words are spy, game and cheat.

The Word of the Day Challenge. The word is beat.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is blogging.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is illustrate.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is elephants.

**********

Veronica, with a resolute sense of anticipation, was waiting for the elevator. Her eagerness to use the computer in the school’s library was palpable, and she needed to get up there before other students had taken all of the available computers. She waited a beat before entering the elevator that had just arrived, as she recognized her teacher, and she had past-due homework. She didn’t want to ride up with her teacher, so she held back for the next elevator car to take her up.

With the last computer in sight, Veronica swiftly signed in and settled at her seat. Her textbooks lay on the desk, a reminder of her academic responsibilities. But her first and foremost priority was her blogging. She had new posts to set up and schedule for the upcoming week, a task that she was deeply passionate about and required her immediate attention.

She also needed to illustrate a children’s book on elephants that she was writing. She could do that at home because she didn’t need a computer, so she put it at the bottom of her list.

Veronica had promised her younger brother that she would find the cheat sheets for the spy game he was playing. This was no ordinary task. He needed those codes to outsmart his best friend and win the game. Armed with the locations he had given her, she knew this was the second most important task on her list.

Third, she would work on the past-due homework. She didn’t want to fail that class and have to retake it. With her schedule outlined, she set to work on the blog posts.

6 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge

Today’s post includes 6 daily writing prompts.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is persuade.

The Three Things Challenge #727. The three words are attend, see and virtual.

The Word of the Day Challenge. The words from the last two days are evolution and elated.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is marker.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is abolish.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is broken.

**********

Marsha stood before the class to persuade everyone to attend the virtual conference on evolution in the auditorium this coming weekend. She could see a few of them write the date and time down in their scheduler app. One of the students didn’t have a phone because his phone was broken at the time, so he took a magic marker to write it down on his notebook cover. She was elated that they abolished the ban on students not attending this college.

5 Daily Writing Prompts, including Fandango and The Three Things Challenge

Today’s post includes 5 daily writing prompts.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge. The word is cope.

The Three Things Challenge #726. The three words are cry, wail and sob.

The RagTag Community daily challenge. The word is open wound.

The Daily Spur daily challenge. The word is tin.

My Vivid Blog daily challenge. The word is cuff links.

**********

“Why are you crying so hard?” Rita demanded of her sister Roslyn.

“I’m in such a state, Rita,” she wailed, her voice filled with misery. “I’m at my wit’s end with my job. I despise it, but finding a new one and coping with all those nerve-wracking interviews is too much. It’s all so terrifying.” Tears streamed down her face, and she futilely tried to wipe them away with a damp tissue.

“I hardly think sobbing about it will fix the situation,” Rita tried to console her.

Roslyn looked at her sister and thought, nothing like rubbing salt into an open wound. She could use a bit of sympathy, although Rita had no problem finding new jobs and going to interviews. They were so different.

Raymond, adjusting his cuff links for the 2nd time that day, said, “What’s with her?” indicating Roslyn.

“Your sister hates her job and doesn’t want to be told to find a new one since she hates doing interviews. By the way, what is Mom doing with a cupcake tin? Is she making cupcakes or muffins today by chance?”

Raymond stopped fidgeting with his cuff links and leaned in towards Rita. “She promised to make birthday cupcakes for Janey’s school today. I am worried that she will mess up the recipe like she did the last time she made them, and Janey will be mortified. Mom is excited, though, to be making them. What do I do?”

“Promise to deliver them for her and stop at the store on the way would be my guess. I wouldn’t trust Mom’s baking anymore.”

“Oh, what a great idea. Thanks!” Raymond glanced over at Roslyn, who was still sniffling. “What about her? She is still upset.”

“Only she can make the decision to look for another job and deal with the fact that there will be job interviews. Either that or she has to remain miserable in the job she has. I don’t see what the big deal is. I don’t like interviews, but they are necessary for job hunting.”

“Roslyn,” Raymond called to his other sister, “What will you do? Stay in the job you hate or look for a new one?”

“I don’t know big brother. I need to think about it some more. I don’t need to decide today. My boss expects me to finish this big project we’ve all been working on. I hate to leave him stranded right now. Besides, I have no idea what kind of job I want. I will have to search for jobs on the websites and see what’s available. Maybe I will change to something in a different line of work.”

FOWC with Fandango, Plus The Three Things Challenge, Plus The Rag Tag Community Daily Prompt, Plus The Daily Spur, Plus the Word of the Day Challenge, Plus My Vivid Blog Challenge

I use a combination of the following daily prompts, with an odd one occasionally thrown in there for good measure.

Fandango’s Rules For the One Word Challenge. Today’s word is fluctuation.

I am also using the Three Things Challenge for today #M725.

Your three words today are:
Worry
Anxious
Emotional

**********

I am also using the Word of the Day Challenge which is allergist.

**********

I am also using the Rag Tag Community Daily Prompt which is rock.

**********

I am also using The Daily Spur prompt which is appointment.

**********

And last is the “My Vivid Blog” daily prompt which is maybe.

**********

I always worry when I have to make a phone call. Phone calls make me anxious, and I become an emotional wreck. Today, I have to call my allergist and make an appointment. He told me last month that there was too much fluctuation in the numbers and that my allergies may have changed, so I needed to be retested.

I made an appointment for this afternoon at 3 p.m. If I leave right now, I might make it on time. I grabbed my tote bag, and it felt like it was filled with rocks. Maybe I need to clean it out today when I get back from the doctor’s. Right now, I am too anxious about being late to stop and empty out the bag.
