The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 1, 2022

**********

Mental Health is a very private thing in some cases. When it comes to the Hippa Law you are entitled to privacy and the other day the woman working here where I live now in assisted living violated my Hippa Rights by discussing my mental health in front of other people in the main hallway instead of in my room in private. I was so upset I started talking to her and then in 5 or 10 minutes she decides my diagnoses are wrong and she gives me a much more awful diagnosis then I already have. I finally complained to the head of nursing and she was shocked that it happened and I was crying since my family told me I should have refused to talk to her. I was given permission to go back to my old provider and she said there is no way she could decide in 5 to 10 minutes that I needed a new diagnosis and new medicines. She is not touching my medicines and I am not talking to her again. Hopefully the higher ups have been told what happened like I was promised. If I want to discuss my private mental health with others that is my choice, but she gave me no choice and she was wrong.

Linda’s Rules for #SoCS!

It’s Friday! Sorry I’m a bit late with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Got caught up with work and totally forgot where I was. Anyway, here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “me.” Find a word that starts with “me” or use the word “me” as the theme of your post. Have fun!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley!
https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

Happy Anniversary!

By Tessa Dean September 2022

“I got a great idea Erica for our travels this year. How about flying out to the Bahamas so we can go scuba diving?” Morris asked his wife of 20 years.

Erica considered the idea and then refused. “I am afraid of water and to put my head underwater. I don’t want to go scuba diving.”

Morris was very disappointed, but he wanted his wife to be happy on their vacation as well.

“I’ll make a deal with you honey, how about we go to the Bahamas and I sit on the beach and at the pool bar while you go diving?”

“You’d do that for me?” Morris was ecstatic about it and so they made their plans and had a wonderful vacation for their 20th anniversary.

Power Outage?

by Tessa Dean September 2022

Jan and Mike entered the diner and looked around warily. It was fairly dark in there and the only light was from two old fashioned type lanterns with wicks and a glass bowl with oil to soak the wicks so they could be lit.

They looked around, but didn’t see anyone inside the diner and they were both hungry. Was the electricity out or did they dine by flickering light from the lamps?

Suddenly they realized it wasn’t a diner, but someone’s home. They turned around and tried to exit the way they came in, but the door was blocked.

Creativity Director!

By Tessa Dean September 2022

Today we had a new creativity director. She had more ideas, but most of them still didn’t go over well. She wanted to share her love of needlework and knitting and most of the ladies said no it wasn’t their thing. They still preferred BINGO. She asked the guys if they liked driving and were any of them interested in model making of their favorite car and sharing it with the group. The men said no and went back to the ball game. Trying to get others to be creative is not easy at times. The new director was getting annoyed as well as she couldn’t find anything to interest anyone in.

Costume Party

By Tessa Dean September 2022

“This has to be the place Theodore. There’s a tower and brick wall surrounding a section of houses.”

“I don’t know Mona. This place looks pretty old and rundown for Margaret and Walter to buy a house to live in.”

“Margaret told me they were looking for something charming and from another century. I don’t know how old this place is, but it looks like it would fit their wants and needs.”

Mona and Theodore looked for someone to ask about the area, but no one was out and about. Mona said, “Let’s look for the house number and the colors she described and see if we are in the right place.”

Theodore followed her through the arched tower and headed over to the houses. “What number are we looking for Mona?”

“She said it was 100 and at the end of the row of houses. The house is brick, but then all of them look like they are brick. This has to be it Theodore, let’s knock.

Margaret and Walter answered the door dressed in old-fashioned garb. “You’re just in time for a costume party tonight. Come into our bedroom and look through the old costumes we have,” Margaret said to them.

One-Liner Wednesday – Losing Balance

Badge by Laura @ riddlefromthemiddle.com

Losing my balance has led to two almost falls today and my heart was pounding as I tried to catch my balance.

(I don’t know why my balance is so bad right now. I also almost fell the other day.)

Linda’s Rules:

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

The Itch You Can’t Resist Scratching

By Tessa Dean September 2022

Ronovan’s Rules:

The Guidelines:

  1. Take the two words and write a Haiku. I use Haiku in English (the link shows you how) as my style, which is 5 syllables for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the third, but you can use what you like.
    • The link above has links on how to write Haibun and Tanka. You can also do the 3/5/3 form if you like instead of the 5/7/5 that I usually use. Write, share, and have fun. For syllable help,
    • For syllables for each word, and different definitions, you use the definition that works for you Haiku. You can also use SYNONYMS. Go to Thesaurus.com for synonym help.
  2. Copy the link of your finished haiku URL and paste in a comment below so we can all go and visit your Haiku.
    • You can do a pingback. What’s a pingback? Place the URL from the address bar up top from this post as a link within your post. Your inclusion of the link encourages others to try the challenge, be creative, and join a community to find friends and more followers (hopefully). I honestly gain nothing with more people visiting the post. I don’t have ads running that generates revenue by your visit or by clicks on whatever WordPress has put up.
    • Click HERE for a detailed post on PINGBACKS.
  3. If you like, copy the image in this post and place it within their post, just to show the Haiku is part of this challenge.
    • I am not saying you need or even should, but if you would like to do so then go ahead.

Hobbies, Anyone?

By Tessa Dean

“Hey is anyone interested in trying some woodworking in activities classes?” Sharon, the activities director, asked the group. Since the group was mainly women the overwhelming response was emphatically no.

“Well what do you guys want to do?” she tried again. The guys shouted, “Watching sports,” and the women were mostly interested in BINGO or puzzles or some kind of game, cards or board games.

Sharon sighed and started unloading the box she brought of games and the men turned on the tv and were soon engrossed in the game.

What do you see # 153 September 26,2022

For the visually challenged reader, this image is of a white Lion, staring directly into the camera. Behind him, the wires of an enclosure can be seen.

By Tessa Dean September 2022

The White Lion

The group of teenagers were running through the woods near their homes when they spotted a white lion in a fenced in pen. It was a baby and the kids all went up to it and were playing with it. One of the teenagers found an article on rare white lions and they shouldn’t have been found in the area they lived. They left the lion there and went to find out who they should report it to. They knew the lion shouldn’t have been there, but had no idea who put it out there in the woods. It was just a baby and there were dangerous animals that roamed those woods. The teens did their best to report the animal and get it to the proper authorities.
