FOWC with Fandango — Slimy

Fandango’s Rules For the One Word Challenge

FOWC

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “slimy.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.

**********

I always thought of snakes as slimy creatures. I warily watched the man standing before me holding a snake and trying to convince me to hold it. I shuddered and told him there was no way I would hold that slimy thing. He told me that snakes were not slimy. Their skin was dry to the touch.

I tentatively reached out and placed a finger on the snake’s skin. I was surprised that it wasn’t slimy to the touch. I put my whole hand on the snake and marveled at the texture of the snake’s outer layer. That was the first and only time I ever touched a snake. He tried to get me to hold the snake, but that wasn’t happening. Touching it while he held it was the farthest I was willing to go.

  1. I handled a few snakes, that scaly often soft, other times rough or smooth skin is quite unusual to the touch, especially with the muscles moving beneath. Great creatures and not an drop of slime. Great post.
