FOWC with Fandango — Paste Plus The Three Things Challenge

Fandango’s Rules For the One Word Challenge

FOWC

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.). Today’s word is PASTE.

I am also using the Three Things Challenge for today #M706.

Your three words today are:
FELLOW
FRIEND
PAL

**********

Hello, my friend,

How are you today? How is our fellow friend, Jeremy, doing? I find it hard to believe we have all been pals for so long.  I remember the days in school when we all used to eat the paste. I think of how awful that stuff tasted, but we never stopped eating it. Do you remember Mrs. Finch yelling at us all for eating the paste rather than doing our artwork? The memory still brings a smile to my face. Talk to you soon, my friend!

Sincerely,

Joshua

Harry paused his flute practice and instructed Mary to leave the room as he didn’t need an audience. Her initial response to his practicing indicated that she didn’t care to listen to what he played. He didn’t need to be surrounded by negative input while doing his best to learn the piece chosen for his tryout with the band at school.

Your final three words for this week are:
SCORE
COUNT
RESOLUTE

**********

The game captivated my attention. The score was tied and I was watching the counter count down. It looked like they were going to run into overtime since they never let the game end in a tie. They worked hard to score a run in the last few minutes, you could see the resolution in their actions.

“So what does the word Snark mean,” Jenny asked in a snarky tone of voice. lowering the volume on her head set to hear my answer to her question.

“I would say you know the answer to the question as you are asking me in a sarcastic tone of voice. It means sarcastic or another meaning is an imaginary animal. You have your phone in your hand, why didn’t you just look it up?”

“I didn’t feel like searching on my phone for the meaning. You know I am not very good with a smart phone. By the way, is Jason going to the school dance tonight?”

“I don’t know what my brother is doing tonight. It is not my duty to run his social life and I certainly have no desire to have him at the dance to tease me about my date. You know he doesn’t like Jonathan.”

“Now who’s being snarky?” Jenny asked her friend.

The scene of the accident struck a chord deep within me. Many years ago my dad had been in a severe car accident and his car, not only smashed like an accordian, burst into flames just minutes after he and his passenger had gotten out of the car. The car was totaled and they were lucky to be alive. My dad had to pull his friend out of the car as he was stuck from when the car had crumpled. My dad was brave and even though he knew his life was in danger he would not leave the man in the car. I admired him for that and I don’t know if I would have been able to do that myself. I am not brave. My father was truly a man to look up to.

Yesterday, during our barbeque, we encountered a fuel crisis. It turns out that Ronny, the one responsible for checking the propane tank, had neglected to do so when I asked him to last week. As a result, we found ourselves with a yard full of guests and a non-functional grill.I had to yank the tank out of the holder on the side of the grill, willing it to yield to my tugging. I finally managed to get it out and had Dave run to the local propane filling station to fill it up. Thankfully, they were open, and we had our barbeque without further problems.

I felt righteous indignation as I watched the residents who did not follow the rules and come to dinner on our seating. Every day, three times a day, they come to the first sitting for the meals and they are supposed to be at the second sitting. Some of the people don’t feel that the rules pertain to them. And when they are told their response is that nobody told them which is a downright lie. The staff is tired of telling them so they let them get away with it and it really makes me mad. Why have rules if you aren’t going to enforce them? Some of the staff will force them to leave, but when they can get away with it, they do. Watching them get away with it really ruins my meal for me. I believe strongly that rules should be enforced.

100% cotton! The tag assured me it was pure cotton. I try not to purchase items that are made with 100% cotton since they shrink. I held the item in my hand while I tried to decide if it was worth trying. When they are 100% cotton I usually buy them a size too large so I have room for shrinkage, but sometimes that backfires on me and doesn’t shrink and I end up with a too large garment. I put the garment back and move on.
