Lost (Photo Prompt) #WritePhoto June 2020

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a green horizon, beyond which the mist veils a hill topped with strange rock formations.

Photo prompt – Veiled

Lost

by Tessa Dean, June 2020

The mist was getting worse, and Joanna could barely see 3 feet in front of her. How was she supposed to find a small child in this weather?

Her best friend’s daughter, Gina, had wandered out of the partially unlatched door, and now she and 50 other villagers were looking for her frantically as the weather was getting worse, and the mist was getting thicker as the time got later. Soon it would be dark as well. Finding the child before the mist got any closer was necessary.

You could hear the volunteers shouting frantically, “Gina, Gina, please answer us. Come on, baby girl, and make a sound.”

Joanna didn’t think at three years old that Gina would be able to wander very far, but she didn’t know. The child’s mother was crying hysterically, and her mother was trying to comfort her.

Joanna looked around her, calling frantically for Gina, but there was no response. Now, where would a three-year-old child hide if she was hiding? You couldn’t tell with children.

Joanna thought she heard a whimper nearby. She listened, and the sound seemed to be coming from the hill that was nearby and covered with rocks and trees. Is it possible she was down there somewhere? Maybe she fell.

Joanna struggled over the hill’s edge, and, listening found Gina a few feet down from the top. She picked up the now crying child and hugged her close. Gina stopped trembling and settled into Joanna’s arms.

The child’s mother, Marci, was at the top of the hill and had spotted them and made her way carefully down the slope and took the proffered child, who snuggled happily in her mother’s arms.

Prompt Rules:

Pensitivity101 Rules:

Welcome to my daily Three Things Challenge!

Your post doesn’t have to be connected to the theme and you can use all three words, two or just one. There are no restrictions regarding length, style, or genre, but please keep it family friendly.
Tag your responses with 3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC, and add my logo if you wish.

This week’s theme is EMOTIONS
Your final three words for this week are:

Achy and Shaky

By Tessa Dean October 2022

Last weekend was a very long and painful one. I ran out of my Oxycodone (pain meds), and between the pain and withdrawal symptoms, I was one tired and upset person. I have made a few friends, but we are usually only together at meal times and an occasional BINGO game, so I am lonely. I rarely see my family. I hope to make at least one really close friend, but who knows if that will happen. The age gap since I am the baby here at 65, and the others are mainly in their 70s to 90+ in years, so there is a huge age gap.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 8, 2022

**********

As I searched the “back of the fridge,” I found several containers that contained what would be considered science projects. I have a bad habit of stuffing things in from the front and not placing the old stuff in the front and the new in the back. Some were quite disgusting.

Linda’s Rules for #SoCS!

Friday’s here and I’m late with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. I really have to start scheduling the prompts way ahead of time. I’m such a scatterbrain lately with all I have to do. Here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “back of the fridge.” Write the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the phrase “back of the fridge.” Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley!

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!
